My adapter gasket has been leaking pretty bad so i decided to fix it.I bought a new gasket and got the 4 bolts out.The only problem is i can get the thing to seperate from the block.I have tried prying with a screwdriver and pulling and pushing on the part the lower radiator hose attaches to.Is there a trick to this?If so what is it?From everything i have read it should come off pretty ease after the 4 bolts come off.

Is there any sealant or gasket in a tube crap on there? Should drop right off. While I'm here........I did mine last fall. Now I'm getting similair oil drips. I'm hoping its a oil pressure sensor or something. Haven't had time to look under it yet. How often do these need replacing?

No sealant or anything. The worst part is when i was prying with a screwdriver i broke off a connector that goes to the very bottom pulley (the a/c perhaps?).From my research SOME have had to replace every 2 years or so.

the closest pulley to that adapter is your power steering pump, the ac is on the opposite side of the motor. you may be replacing your power steering pump now too, unless you want it to drive like it has manual steering!!! the connector you broke off probably goes to the evo sensor, ( electronic variable orifice) which is what makes your steering softer of tighter when driving.

GREAT!!How hard a job is that??

Also,i just went back out there and saw that 2 of the bolts i pulled off were the wrong ones!I pulled off the right 2 and it started gushing everywhere. Thanks for the help.

actually taking the power steering pump off isnt bad at all, if you did the adapter plate, the pump will be easy as pie. i did have to cut a 18 mm wrench in half though so i could get it between the pump and k member to break the p.s hose loose from the pump, or just use a stubby wrench, i didnt have any though so i made one!

Did you break the connector, or the actuator itself. The actuator is obsolete, you will have to call max, and have him get one from vintage parts, inc. I had to get one, it was $66 dollars plus shipping. With out the actuator, you will always have full boost. This actuator reduces the pressure to the rack, when you go over 10mph.

i have a complete take off pump with the evo actuator in it still if you cant find anything, it was removed from a running car only reason its off is because someone wanted the engine block. pump works 100 %

I broke it off where it attaches to the PS pump. The connector is actually still connected.I might try super glue on that.

jamie97lsc,i will let you know.I am going to finish this tonight since its easier to see.

No it's from the stock engine. That little bugger is a fun thing to replace. LOL

Okay, so I may have an oil leak coming from here and not a rear main? Any suggestions on how to replace gasket and where to get gasket Max have it?
Also anyone have any idea what a burning smell that almost smells like plastic might be coming from? brakefluid?

You should be able to tell where your oil leak is coming from... the oil filter adapter gasket is what goes between the part that mount your oil filter and the block. The rear main is in the back of the engine, it should be obvious where the leak is coming form as those are two radically different spots on the motor.

Call up Max, he can hook you up.

It is a very straight forward replacement. You drain the coolant and you pull off the oil filter and unbolt the power steering pump. Then you just unbol the adapter and clean everything up and put the new gasket in. Put everything back together, you might as well change the oil and then refill the coolant sytem and bleed the air out properly and you are good to go.

The burning smell... that could be a ton of things, brake fluid has a unique smell.... but it is really hard to say without actually seeing and smelling the car lol....

This is the first i have read about pulling off the power steering pump.I left mine in place and put a very light coat of gasket maker to hold the gasket in place and went from there. This job was a total PITA and will probably pay someone next time.

The power steering pump is held on by 3 bolts I believe... I took it off to get more room to work with, didn't undo the lines, just unbolted it from the block, probably unnecessary lol...

when i did mine i didnt unbolt it but then again i like to cheat when i can but i will agree that it is a PITA. ill end up doing it myself because im cheap like that plus i have acces to a lift def a help when doing this i got it done in a few hours

Well,i just got home and topped off the oil and coolant. For some reason the red oil light wont go off.The dipstick shows that the oil is full and there are no odd noises coming from the engine although i didnt run it long.ANy ideas? The only thing disconnected is the power steering pump (its unplugged at the moment).Any help would be much appreciated.

the oil psi sending units are crap, first id check to see if its plugged in and if so toss a sensor at it, its cheep!

your cruise work? have you had the recall done?

No to the recall. I guess I will call the local dealer and see if he has the parts.
I use my cruise a lot. I do not want them to disconnect it until they get the parts in. Also does anyone know exactly what is done to fix it. I mean do they have to pull the whole front end off like when I replace the air suspension pump? Do they have to pull the drivers fender or anything like that? I just do not trust these mechanics. I have had such a bad experience with them breaking things that weren't broken before they started. I know that every time I have the oil changed the Quick Lube takes an awfully long time getting the filter out and the new one in. I have done it and it is not rocket science. I also think he is moving the power steering tubes too much and has caused a leak there getting the oil filter out.

every dealer should have the parts by now, i took mine in yesterday took them 40 mins. I believe they just put a new wiring harness on the brake switch.

parts have been in stock for months, and they can perform the recall without removing much of anything (unless you have a 93, they suck) they pick it up maybe unbolt the front of the wheel liner (if they are a sissy) reach up, unplug the switch, plug in the jumper harness and your done. the disconnect was when this recall first came out so the cars wouldnt burst into flames before the harness came out

chickenviii where u get your rims the 18" saleens ? i like that style but i want in chrome
