You can't compare a turbo diesel to a naturally aspirated Mark VIII when comparing tuning results.

Did you clean both sides of the contact surface. I think he means you should unhook the battery and then hook it back up to reset the computer.

I'll spoon feed this to you
1. Open your hood.
2. Disconnect the negative cable of the battery.
3. Remove the hush panel above the drivers feet. This is held in with the “Christmas Tree” like push retainers.
4. Under the dash, near the emergency brake pedal, you will see the back of the EEC. This is a silver box that is approx. 1.5” thick, 6” tall, and about 8” long. It is held in place with a plastic U shaped clamp. Just pull this clamp, it only slides on.
5. Now, grab the EEC and pull it down and it will come out. There is a metal plate the EEC sits next too, this is attached to the car.
6. Take the EEC apart. You need to separate the top and the bottom so you can clean the service port connector properly.
7. Take some 150 grit sandpaper and clean the contacts on the service port. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU BE ABLE TO SEE COPPER ON THE EDGE CONNECTOR.
8. Now, install the EEC, but do not put the cover back over the service port. You install the EEC in the backwards procedure that you removed it in.
9. Install the chip by slipping it over the edge connector. The connector on the EEC is offset from the center, so is the connector on the chip. Line these up so the chip fits over the back of the EEC and covers it.
10. Install the negative cable on the battery and start the car. If the car does not start or does not run right, it is most likely a bad connection between the chip and the EEC. This connection must be clean.
11. Install the hush panel back on the car.
12. Have fun

MAKE SURE THE CONTACTS ARE CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!! I ran into this problem ans thanks to others here my car gets sideways at wot. I don't notice it as much toolong around town or crusing on the highway but at wot it pulls like a raped ape!!! And the mileage well j have no idea if it helped I think it actually is worse because I can't keep my foot off the floor it's so much more fun to drive now it's like when I first got my mark only faster!!!!
Clean. The contacts and enjoy!!

Thanks guys funny sob's on here but helpfullllllll....thanks again!

Just got back from cleanin terminals and a haulin ass test drive. Much better. Pulled it into the shop to do a burnout as any mature adult would and the damn throttle cable broke right at the pedal. Local parts stores cant get one so hopefully the ford dealer can. Thanks again guys...any cables for sale??? Keep on keepin on

That some funny sh*t broke your throttle cable. I shouldn't laugh my clutch cable broke on my bike while ride on day. We need to have a sticky on how to clean and install chip.

You cant compare throwing a chip on a diesel and tuning on ANY gas engine. You slap a chip in a TD and you get an extra 130hp and 200+tq. You barley get that by throwing a blower on a stock Mod motor.

Did you disconnect the battery when you pulled/reinstalled the chip? (hopefully you did!)

I think I still have a cable laying around, it's from a GenII Mark VIII

last i heard is ford discontinued these

Now there's a shocker!

I fear that by the time I get my car back on the road, everything will be discontinued! Heck, cars might even be discontinued! :p
