I replaced my original 96 shaft with a 93 a couple months ago. Over the weekend, I pulled the stick axle out of my SVO and put in a 03/99 Cobra IRS.

But I still had the Mark driveshaft sitting in the corner, I set it next to the steel shaft out of my SVO. And the wheels begin to turn...

So last night, I decided to cut up the old two piece driveshaft from the Mark VIII. Little tube is bonded to outer with rubber. Once cut to the correct length a little drill and sawzall action freed it from the main shaft...

I took the cut end/yoke over to the lathe and cut the original weld and freed the yoke from the old shaft. Lined up my marks I made prior to cutting, keeping the yokes lined up.

So I need to cut off the original balance weights and have it balanced... New u-joints, and she's ready to go..

I tried to give mine away for free with no takers. Nice SVO.

I would recycle. Probably get a few bucks for it in todays metal market!

I cut the ends of and leave that part stuck in the end of the transmissions I pull. Keeps the seals in good shape and doesn't let the fluid leak out.

Anyone else see that carbon fiber D.S. On one of the other mark viii site for sale $800. Sowwie thread jack

It's true! Seen it with my own eyes, even though you could do some rounding on the edges, since they're so sharp. :p

IRS on an SVO! Me likey! I'd like to find a good 99/03 Cobra IRS setup to put in our '96 Cobra. How did it change the ride/handling characteristics of the SVO as compared to the log axle?

Haven't driven it yet. I need to finish the wiring for the Megasquirt and build a diff for the IRS.

holy :q:q:q:q.... is that a 4 cylinder???? i haven't really got too much knowledge when it comes to stangs especially fox body

Ooooooh! Me likey! Seriously, that is one seriously nice SVO. What year is it? I've seen a couple of SVO's running the "Folvo" head. That DOHC cam cover just looks perfectly at home under the SVO's hood. That's what Ford should have done in the first place. When the SVO came out, Ford had a 250hp turbo DOHC 2.0L 4-banger in the Sierra Cosworth in Europe. Why they didn't just put that engine in the 'Stang is beyond me.
