SATURN5
Dr. Frankenstang
I replaced my original 96 shaft with a 93 a couple months ago. Over the weekend, I pulled the stick axle out of my SVO and put in a 03/99 Cobra IRS.
But I still had the Mark driveshaft sitting in the corner, I set it next to the steel shaft out of my SVO. And the wheels begin to turn...
So last night, I decided to cut up the old two piece driveshaft from the Mark VIII. Little tube is bonded to outer with rubber. Once cut to the correct length a little drill and sawzall action freed it from the main shaft...
I took the cut end/yoke over to the lathe and cut the original weld and freed the yoke from the old shaft. Lined up my marks I made prior to cutting, keeping the yokes lined up.
Steel shaft next to my new aluminum shaft.
Today I took it to work and had our fab guy Tig it for me....
So I need to cut off the original balance weights and have it balanced... New u-joints, and she's ready to go..
