Just an FYI to that if anyone goes with the halogen kit and plans on adding an aftermarket HID kit like I did you can keep the original SIL with no headlight out messages.

I have kits in stock and I am local in SoCal, I can install if you need it.

Wish I had found out sooner. I have a set on order from Team Ford in Vegas. There are headlight assemblies available around $791. This is supposedly for the entire headlamp assembly. I might still hit you up for a kit and refurbish my old HID lamps. Thanks

?????? Details please. What about having working keys/SIL ????
I'm converting from HID to Halogen, changing out entire assembly (if UPS ever gets here).

I got the halogen kit. Came with left and right side housings and a new SIL. I also got a 9006 HID kit from mafioso. Installed the housings and HID kit without touching the SIL. The only issue is the +/- on the new wiring that comes in the Ford kit is backwards. I had to reverse the wiring to get the HIDs to work. No headlamp out message.

What is the current status of the Headlamp Assemblies? Are they still on backorder or currently available to ship? I need a set desperately for my 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. Thank you

Are you referring to the HID plastic headlight housing? I got two new ones from Max for about $300 each with all new bulbs intact except the HID bulb. That's only about $60 dollars per year if you figure '98 until now?:)
Does anyone know do all HID light sysytems in all cars have a ballast? My new Camry has HID bulbs installed from factory.

So if the Camry bulbs fit in the Mark's housing will they work?

The short answer is no.

Like halogen headlights there are different type of HID bulbs. The Mark VIII bulbs are unique as well as how the ballast works. If you can fab up something to use whatever HID bulbs a so equipped camry would use and wire in the camry ballast you could make it work.

Unless your factory housings are in sorry shape like mine were(even then if you want to try and sand and clear coat them) I would get a kit to adapt new HID bulb/ballasts to your car. They are much cheaper then halogen housings and someone did all the hard work for you already.

I'm sorry to belabor this, but is what you are saying is that the Lincoln bulbs are specific to the Lincoln ballasts? So if one wants to change the Lincoln bulbs, one has to change ballasts?

The Mark was the first car to use HID headlights in the US.... and at the time the technology was a little out dated. There are two types AC and DC... I can't remeber what the Marks is but it is opposite of what everything else uses.

So if you want to change the bulbs to anything but another factory HID bulb you need to change the ballasts too... Mark VIII ballasts only work with Mark VIII bulbs.

Exactly. I cant remember which way it is either.

What is the story with 2 working ignition keys before installing the module?
I bought my headlamp assemblies with module from Team Ford. Installed new lamps and module, key turns on but does not crank engine over. spoke to Team Ford and last nights reccomendation from tech was to leave ignition on for 1-2 hours. That seems a little excessive and I don't want to run the risk of burning anything up in the ignition circuit.
Any other solutions or ideas?
The lamps work, everything lights up in the dash and I get a security warning light flashing when key is inserted. Have tried disconneting battery and reconnecting but still does not crank.
Your assistance is appreciated.
Thanks, Eddie
P.S. Team Ford is looking into solution through Lincoln tomorrow.

^Ya... I need a good drivers side, and by good all I care about is that the lens isn't cracked because mine is.

It is all good except for needing to be buffed out. I never buffed it so it should be fine. Make me an offer. I still have the box that Max shipped me my new ones in to mail it in to you. If you prefer PM me.

option 1
If you have 2 keys that will start the car before the change...
put key one in and turn it on....DO NOT CRANK CAR!!!!!
turn it off and remove key...
immediatly put in key 2 and turn on...DO NOT CRANK CAR!!!!!
turn off and remove the key and the door locks should cycle

car should now start.

option 2
if you do not have 2 keys that started the car....
reattach old sil module and go to dealer to get 2nd key and program....
go back to step one...or let the dealer finish the replacement and program the module for you.

option 3 is to just leave the old module in and deal with a possible light defective message.
