Need to know if this is a decent price for a conversion

I really like the thought of keeping the air ride on my mark but I don't want to run into any probs again. My front end is dropped again after I thought it was fixed so i called a pretty well known shop here in orlando and they said they can do the conversion parts and labor $1580. i dont know jack when it comes to this stuff so i need some advice is this a decent price any suggestions? (aside from doing it myself:D )
 
i bought the whole conversion kit for $385 plus $30 shipping from american air suspension and installed myself. if someone charged you labor, it shouldn't be more than $150 or less because its really not that hard to do. it took me about 3hrs.
 
TOO MUCH $$$!!! I would try to find a LVC member who would help you out. Maybe you buy the kit for $400-$450 & toss the LVC member $200-$250 to put it in? Still well under a Grand. It's worth a try. It's not that hard to do. If you were close to me I would help you out.

Chico: Im in Brandon, Florida and have done the conversion on mine. I got all the tools needed to do the job.

Heres the deal:

1: I can come up, lend you my tools and give you a helping hand for FREE, or

2: If you dont want to get involved i will do it for 150 bux.

Sound good? PM me if interested. (entirely up to you) :)

Obviously, you buy the conversion kit first! Lol.
 
You know, i was just thinking... With the money you could potentially save from the labour, you could buy some new air ride components and stick with the air ride! Eddie at American Air Suspension is your man for parts and info! :cool: Either way, us LvC ers can help ya out...
 
I'll do it for $1579... that will cover the parts, flying myself out there first class, and staying in a decent hotel and renting a car for a week and still coming back with money...
 
I'm in Sarasota and have the airbags front and rear plus the compressor from a 42,000 mile 98 LSC that you can have for $200 if you're interested and you can pick them up and wouldn't have the shipping cost, that's if you want to stick to the air ride. I bought them from this guy that switched to the coils because his wife didn't like the noise of the compressor coming on.:)

I have to get mine re-done this month, or next at the latest. I have found the parts online, but what tools are needed to do it yourself? I would also love any tips you all have--my compressor is bad, and I want to get a slightly higher look vs lower-
 
Chico--I found this online, and thought you may want to review this. It looks difficult to me, not being a mechanic, or understanding it, but to a mechanic, I am sure this looks easy-

Hi 21stcenturygadgetguy! I see you found Arnott's instructions! If you do a search, you will probably find some member write ups too! There is one part of the Arnott instruction i dont agree with though - their method to disable the air ride message - as i heard it can affect the EVO steering, so most people cut a wire behind the passenger kick panel, which disables ONLY the message.

Its a pretty easy job, in fact, getting the old rusted parts out is probably the most time consuming part! Lol.

Tip: give all the rusted nuts and bolts a good soak with penetrating oil a couple of days before you start - makes it all easier. Take your time, follow the instructions and it will be easy!

I have that exact Arnott kit - i got that just cos it was cheapest at the time - but they are all pretty similar. However, for peace of mind, many recommend Eddie at American Air Suspension, as his after market service is the best!
 
Good to know! Thanks! I appreciate the tip on cutting the wire too--about to right now, as the "Check Air Ride System" message is driving me nuts!
