For you guys that need new speakers, I found a killer deal last night and wanted to share cause the guy has 8 left.
My fathers new truck we got yesterday has blown front speakers and since his birthday is the 17th I figured I would buy him some speakers for it.
Most of you know I have installed for years and really know my equipment. Audibahn makes a few good components although most suck. But these speakers I have installed prolly 20-30 times and every time they impressed the hell out of me. NEVER heard another 6x8 with as much bass and the highs are crisp and accurate. We sold them for $180 a pair and every person that heard them loved them. I even had replaced a set of MB Quarts in an Explorer cause these sound so much better.

You can get them for $20 under the "Best Offer" button and shipping is $12 so for $32 you can get an excellent set of components too! Outboard x-over and all wires are included too. :)
Here is the link, if you need new speakers in your Ford product then get them!! :wrench

These have to be used in an aftermarket setup correct ??? the factory amp wont push these correct?
Thanks

The factory amp can push them but only for bass or only for highs as the x-over in the factory system is in the amp itself.
If your 6x8s are blown then they would make more mid bass and midrange then the factories and allow easy expandability in the future.

Do you have an item number because this message board will never print the entire ebay link?.

Ahhhh, always wondered why some ebay links didnt work on here.

Here is the item number: 280382172937

Cool!

Just put in the $20 per set offer. (I want 2 sets)

Yeah, its just too good of a deal! They really are very nice sounding speakers and I was gonna suprise my father and just install them but they look impressive with the out board x-overs so I want him to see hes getting a neat setup for his truck. :D

Well, 2 pairs are on the way. Not quite sure what to expect, what with them being refurbs, but will see and report back. Won't be able to install them for quite some time though...

Oh, and $20 per pair offer was accepted and shipping for both sets was negotiated down to $21. So, hopefully will have $360 of speakers for $61. :)

Thanks for the tip, Laser!

Audiobahn is the biggest POS car audio company i have ever had or seen. At one point in time My speakers/subs/cd player/amp were ALL Audiobahn. Learned a very very VERY hard $2,000 + Mistake.....

They don't even have a website anymore.

Just my 2 cents. Cheap as hell tho...good luck to anyone who buys them lol

Well, the way I see it, for 61 bux, I really can't complain - that's cheaper than one set of dubious brand speakers at Walmart - I think anything will be an improvement over the dated, worn out factory junk.

You got that part right. The stock speakers that come in these cars were a joke. When I pulled mine, I swear I laughed. Ran one of them over with a John Deere lawn tractor just for kicks and threw the other three in the trash. I have never bought into Audiobahn because when ever I looked at something that they had made, it was like they went more for the looks of their products. As for sound quality and life expectancy, I wouldn't have a clue because I have never owned it and don't know anyone that owns anything by Audiobahn. I just haven't never been a fan of any speaker with a rubber surround but again, compared to what came in the Marks from the factory, Pyramid would be a better speaker. You have to remember that you're dealing with an 11 to 16 year old speaker, paper coned, no surround IMO and whatever that is they call for a magnet on the back. They have seen their days. Being that the Audiobahn has been refurbished, they could possibly be better than they were when they come from the factory. I'm not knocking what you bought at all. Good price!

I'll just be happy to rid myself of the whole old system. Speaking of which, anybody got some non JBL door panel trims they wanna trade / sell? I won't need my JBL panels with these integrated tweeter speakers.

I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, so I'll be happy with a cheap, simple system. You're right about the original speaker quality, Terry - my old speakers (and everything else) will go in the trash, also.

Fent, I agree whole heartedly. The shop I worked at was not an Audiobahn dealer but the shop that was closed down and sold us his stock cheap. Man we had tons of amps and components and subs. We were selling them dirt cheap, some of the coaxials we gave away for free if they just pay for installation. We had 30 pairs of these 6x8s and in Maui Ford Rangers sold like crazy but they were all cheap models so no options. Kids would come in with their new trucks and for $250 installed we did a Pioneer deck (bottom model) and these speakers. First install I did I couldnt believe what I heard! I was so used to the hollow tinny sound of the Audiobahns that I had to make sure I didnt grab a set of MB Quarts Refrence speakers, thats what they sounded just like! Well the Audiobahn had quite a bit more bass though. The only other speaker they made that sounded half way decient was their 6.5" 3-way component system and really it was only as good as an Infinity Refrence 2-way set for double the price.

They also had a couple 10" and 12" subs that sounded great but the amps never put out what they claimed to.

Anyway after I did a couple Rangers with these speakers I told the owner that they were actually worth something so take them out of the install package. We sold the last 20 pairs for $120 a set and they sold within 3 weeks after I put a pair in our demo board. Didnt sell many Quarts that month. Was kinda hard when these sounded a little fuller then the MB Quart 6x8 Ref series at half the price.

Now that I think about it I am gonna order another pair cause I still have stock speakers in the rear in my Mark.

I will never do Audiobahn again lol. Thats all i am saying!

Anyways, so if you upgrade the speakers do you need to bypass the amp? I am really thinking about doing it...cant stand the stock sound anymore lol

I am not 100% positive. I always have but you may be ab;e to still use it. Take a look at the back of the factory "tweeters" and see if there is a capacitor on it. It will be inline between where the tweeter plugs in at and its voice coil. If there is a capacitor there then that means the amps output is full frequency on those channels. Just run the tweeters wires to the new 6x8s and leave the old factory 6x8 plug anattached.
I do know the amps output to the 6x8s is set at 300hz and down so if you used that plug then you would have no highs at all.

Since i have my door panels off i also scooped up two pairs.I have a 3 or 4yr old pioneer cd player that im going to use to run them.I used to compete in car audio back in 2000 and also know a little bit about car audio to know audiobahn isnt that good.

There is a reason they are refurbished, And as far as comparing them to MB Quartz, That company has gone down hill so far it is not even funny. Since they were bought out a few years ago they suck. You are just buying a name now not the quality anymore. Audiobaughn is a garbage speaker and always will be, So in 6 month when you are replacing them again you will be saying :q:q:q:q I should have bought something else. Any speaker set that cost 180 dollars most likely needs an upgraded amp to run properly. You can blow speakers by underpowering them also. If you are looking to just do a stock upgrade and get better sound Pionner makes a great replacement speaker for about 80-100 a pair. If you are gonna upgrade with an amp the possibilites are endless. Alpine Type R's are a nice upgrade with an amp, But remember if you want a true bass increase you need an actual subwoofer added.

Well mine showed up today and so far I am very impressed. I forgot they came in a wooden box.... hell, the box is almost worth $20

The x-overs are all aluminum too making for a very impressive looking setup. If you are using a sub they even have a switchable high pass at 200hz for the mid bass speakers. Cant wait to install them in the truck. :D

dont look too bad, i threw some $30 blaupnkt 6x8 3 ways in the rear just for some cheap rear fill when i did my sys overhaul, they lasted a few years and sounded great but now the RR is buzzing like hell.......the amp was pushing the limits of the speakers :)

Well, they look good, laser - mine should be here soon, also. Maybe tomorrow? :)

I think they are low impeadence speakers. I put themin the F-150 and they sound great with good mid bass but when the stock deck (same deck a Mark has) it turned past half way you can hear the amp reducing power while a song is playing it you hit a high transiet peak. :(
The deck in the truck may be going bad so I am going to swap out the Lincolns old deck when I find my removal tools.

Wont be a problem in the Marks door but I had to get creative to mount the x-over in the trucks door.

hell usually its the stock head unit that is the down fall of over all sound quality. i had a 98 f150 extended cab strip down and i swapped the HU and the stock speakers sounded pretty good for what they were

I got a email yesterday saying my 2 sets will be in on the 21st.I also found the same alpine ipod deck i had in my camaro on craigslist for 100.00.This should be a decent combo.

Well, got my 2 sets a week or so ago.

Something weird, though;

3 of the speakers are the same, are in good condition and look like those in the pic. However, one of the speakers has a different tweeter unit and it's mount is loose - doesn't come out, but it rattles around.

Wonder if there is a way to tighten it up...

Forgot to add, one of the sets has missing end mount points - no big deal.

They don't look like a quality speaker, but hopefully they'll sound ok. :)
