Need an opinion

Type X is garbage IMO. Not worth the price.

Type Rs are probably the only Alpine sub I would ever recommend to someone - and that's someone with a real tight budget.

I understand what you mean. I also think they are overpriced but i wouldnt go as far as saying they are garbage.
Alpine makes good products. After 4 years of thumping, my type R's still sound true.

I beleive if the type X were truley garbage, they would of come off the market years ago. A business cannot thrive on garbage, unless its garbage at a low garbage price. People would not buy garbage at 250 bucks a pop.
Ive read all the reviews, heard them off of my friends cars and i truley beleive they are well made speakers. Not the best by far, but good enough for what im looking for, a good 1000rms sub that will give me years of service.

I respect your opinion, but what would you recomend? Im still shopping around trying to get the best sub i can for around 300dlls.

Just because a product sells doesn't mean it is 'good'.

Kicker and Sony also sell alot of car audio products but in general they are a joke. The uneducated average joe goes to his local audio shop and drops 3 grand on a "custom" install full of Sony gear. It is embarassing when these people brag.

The underground car audio scene is real. And for you it starts now, look at the Fi BL. Ficaraudio.com

This sub seems to be in your power and price range and it will blow away any mainstream drivers out there of equal value. These are big boy woofers we are talken about. Like 40 pounds and up.

Andrizzle hit on it slightly.

You have the "mainstream" brands which are decent and well known to the average consumer. These are typically found in most non car audio stores and are Kicker, MTX, Alpine.

And then the budget stuff which is Sony and Pioneer.

But then you have the underground scene. These woofers hit hard and low, are heavy as hell and very well priced.

Audioque, DC, Fi and others and are typically only found online or at local car audio shops and by word of mouth. Sad part is some of these subs can be had for less than even some of the budget stuff and blows it away.

Just go on youtube and seach car audio and see how many brands you never heard of blowing everything else away. Realm Of Excursion has loads of into on systems.

Thanks for your input guys. I was deff looking into RE also. I was checking out their XXX but deff over my budget and i only have about 1.7-1.8 cubft ported so it would be the minimum required for that sub. Dont want to hold back a sub due to the enclusure.

I heard before that it is best to buy an amp that will be able to handle more than the rms of the sub so therefore not be running the amp at its limit and avoiding distortion or overheating. Im guessing this sub would work well with any 1000w sub

and also because amps are not 100% efficient?

You're not going to find an RE XXX for a reasonable price, the new ones are retardedly priced and are extremely awkward to mount.

If you find a 2005 RE XXX then you have struck gold, this is one of the best woofers ever made IMO and the 05 series is pretty much the big daddy of it's era. However RE is a totally different company now and finding an old model XXX would probably have rareity added into the price. For a comparable sub, like I said look into the Fi BL or Fi Q. These are both basically the closest to the old XXX. Q being more SQ and BL leaning towards the SPL side.

Trust me, you will love a BL or a Q.

Now onto your newest post with a link to that hifonics amp... If you're going to run a high quality woofer, you need quality pushing it. Look into an audioque 1200D.

This with a BL or Q is a good match.

Also if you are looking for something a little less expensive with the same quality - look @ the Elemental Designs Nine.1 This amp is underrated and benches @ 1400+ @ 14.4V.

I currently run a Nine.1 on an SSA XCON and it is like a transformer magically fuking you in the skull.

He could actually run a SSA ICON with the Elemental Designs Nine.1 with killer results.

Lol at the comparison. :)

Go download timestretch by bassnectar. THAT sounds like a transformer magically fuking you in the skull.

not sure if somebody already asked, but id be interested in buying your alpines if you decide to sell them.

Is that one available in dual 2 ohm? Just saying an amp that puts out 1K @ 2 ohm probably isn't going to be under 3 bills.

you might not find the best amp for under 3 bills, but you can definitely find something that isn't bad by any means.

the kicker750 is usually averaging 930-950ish, and is tough enough for your average listener, they are great cheap clean power.

and for an easy 1200-1300 for sure watts that wont break the budget by too much, the zx1000

Check out the Basshead SPL remix...super awesome! Also Blast Off has an awesome beat

I've listened to the whole album. Thumps pretty damn hard. I've seen bassnectar live a few times. Car audio doesn't do it proper justice.

Don't know if you every saw my earlier post about Massive Audio or not but here it is. Also go to youtube and look at a couple of videos on these amps. If you are a memeber of www.DIYMA.com then one of the moderators on there who goes by DAT sells them for cheap prices.

If you are looking for a good amp look up a brand call Massive Audio. You can view them at www.sonicelectronix.com but there is a guy on DIYMA.com that can beat any price around. My boss just ordered this one yesterday for $219 shipped to his door: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-Audio-N4.html

Agreed, Bassnectar is just amazing in person. I wasn't sure if the SPL remix was on that album I got all my bassnectar via torrents.
