Hello everyone!

Im new to this forum and figured my first post should be something worth while. I've had my LS for about a year now and figured it was about time to start "modding" it like i have done to all of my other vehicles.

Here are some pix of the car

Now onto the good stuff hehe! ;)

I work at a GMC dealership and am good friends with most of the parts people, so when i want or need a warranty item, its mine. So a pair of GMC acadia tail lights (LED) came into my possession and knew right away i was going to throw them into my car somehow. On the acadia BRAKE, RUNNING, and SIGNAL is all controlled through the one LED board that i have, so i had to take three bulbs from the LS tail and convert it to one LED circuit.

So about 12 hours of time put into this i finally figured out how to do it! HAHA!

1 Tail light Took:

1 GMC Acadia LED circuit
2 4 Wire Relays
2 5 Wire Relays
1 Diode
LOTS of wires!
1 6 ohm 50 watt resistor

Hopefully you will enjoy!

I like the concept, but the round pattern looks strange in a non round tail.

Also I don't like you can see the white circle inside, I would try and hide it more.

But like I said, I love the concept of LED tails, I tried some on my gen2, but it is difficult to get a clean LED pattern to come through the lenses.

Haha yea. i dont like the fact that you can see the white either. Hopefully if this weekend is warm enough im going to black out the tails, thus solving that problem :)

Also the chrome inside the housing reflects the 2 hidden leds and produces unwanted lighting... that issue is also going to be addressed :)

Good work. Yeah the circle seems a little odd. Maybe seing both done wold make it look better. A little tint would hide the circle more

Well you get an A for effort...

i must concur with both comments here. if you do not try new things then everyone would have the same things right? you are on to something though, i'll give you that.

I think you're right Alax. If the circles still look out of place there has to be a way to get a square pattern.

I've been looking at these for a little while:

http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED/Brake-Light-LED/Red-LED/V-LEDS-RED-V-STAR-M-SMT-p6472879.html

But I'm unsure as to how they would look. I'm going to give them a try soon I think.

i was just looking at those the other day, but i didn't see them in the right size:rolleyes:, i may have however been looking at turn signals now that i think of it, if you get a set, let me know how they look (im sure we'll see some pictures :D)

is 86 LED per bulb too much, hell no

well, 3157 is the correct size for gen1. dunno about gen 2.

I would like to see how they look.. Do the tails just come apart or what? Because I am sorta good a boards so maybe (if they come apart), I could rig something up..

Gotta cut them apart. They don't have the adhesive that softens with heat.

Unfortunately they don't "bake" apart, so yes you do have to cut them. Got everything wired up for the drivers side, all that's left to do is cut up the tail and install everything. I'm going to wait till I get some black paint so I can cover up the chrome insides.

Yea I saw that thread when I was researching before I joined. The idea is great, and I love leds. Haha.
