Started working on my $350 Mark today. This car was slammed all the way down to the ground. Had to go buy a low profile floor jack just to be able to lift it up. Once I got it lifted, I see that it pissed itself.:D Checked the oil, and it's full of oil. There's a leak somewhere. Anybody have any ideas?

It's hard to tell right now, I'd clean it up first so you can see where it's coming from. It might be the oil filter adaptor gasket too.

It looks like your oil pressure sensor is disconnected too.
 
I had already suspected the oil filter gasket, that is good insurance to do, but I do suspect the power steering as well, because it makes a lot of noise when I turned the wheel from left to right.
 
When my 94 done that, it was the power steering hose. Not the high pressure hose but the other one. Took maybe 10 minutes to cut a new piece and put it on and the leak was gone. When the cooling fan comes on and or high speeds, it tends to splatter all over the under side. My oil pan gasket also leaked a little. 1/2 a quart every month or two.
 
oil pressure sending unit?
its even unplugged in the pic....and it looks wet and clean
 
on my old 97 lsc the oil pressure sending unit went bad, and when they do, they spew oil out bad, if you are driving when it happens the oil will blow all over the front end. if you dont notice it in time you can wreck the motor, my father in law had my 97 when it went bad, driving around all day, until the oil light went on, then he finally tells me, and i added 4 quarts of oil to it, needless to say i was royally pissed off, but it never hurt the motor, it was fine after that. i dont know how it lasted with 2 quarts in it!
 
I've hit a bit of a speed bump. The bolt I need to tighten down on the LCA to the wheel hub is spinning. Where do I need to apply pressure with the jack so I can tighten the nut down?

yes... need to put weight on it to wedge the taper into the spindle. Make sure, if equipped that the zerk fitting is removed first.
 
I'm using an impact gun. This job is hard enough with brute strength. :mad:

To make matters worse, the bolt for the airbag on the passenger side is seized into the lower control arm. I'm going to have to take it out as an assembly. :mad:

I wondered about that too.

I had a similar thing happen to my mark when my front passenger bag blew out. When it blew, it stayed compressed even when I lifted the car. Odd but true.
 
because the struts have been compressed for so long due to the air ride being bad that they have gotten stuck like that, happens to any of them if they sit slammed for any length of time.
 
Also, since the passenger side tires are still on the ground, the stabilizer bars are keeping the driver side wheels up.
 
Yes, set the weight of the car on the control arm then tighten the ball joint. You do not need a balljoint. I also think the car seems a little scared of you, it appears to have it's feet tucked up to itself.:D
 
soak the hell out of the bolt now with pb blaster or liquid wrench and let it sit, wait a day and then put the nut back on the bolt and beat it with a hammer, you put the nut back on so you dont wreck the threads or mushroom the end of the bolt! it will come out, but damm lol i never had to do that yet, take the control arm and strut off together! stuck bolts blow!!
 
Well, I just finished the suspension portion. This car looks 10 times better when it is sitting up regular and not slammed. This car had every major maintenance issue. Brakes were down to the metal.

Next week I figure out where the oil is leaking from. It also looks like the rear main seal as well. The car had been sitting for three months when I bought it. I'm wondering if I can be the rear main seal.
 
Looking better already!

What kind of brakes are you getting? I need brakes and the $180 full set from Powerstop on eBay is very tempting...
