Sway bars are one of the bigger things on my to do list. I have read through a lot of threads, but wanted some opinions...

Is it better to run the same size front and rear, or can a staggerd setup function better. I am torn between going 1 1/4 front and rear bars, or if it would be more beneficial to run a 1 3/8 in the rear?

I have 1.25" and the other day when I brought my car to the shop I watched him drive my car up a very shallow driveway and the inside rear tire came off the ground. Its pretty dang stiff. Also its killed a few sets of link bushings, bent three links and snapped one. I guess its more then stiff enough. I ordered the same size for up front but it has yet to show up.

Yeah, that is pretty stiff. Didn't know if balanced, or oversized would be more beneficial. I really like my cars to handle well....especially if they are tanks like ours.

I vote for balanced with the ADDCO bars.

I run 1 1/4" F&R on my LSC, and 1 3/8" F&R on my SC.

I think I may stick with Addco 1 1/4 F&R. Figure that will fit my needs after lowering the car, and doing the brake/wheel/tire upgrades.

I feel my inside wheel lift off the ground when I turn into a driveway......to the point that it is a thunk, and chirp of the tire when it hits the ground.

What might be too big of a bar? I am shopping around for a set of bars, and I'm beginnning to think that maybe 1 3/8" might be overkill? Any suggestions?

A little over steer is a nice thing, especially in a barge that is so prone to under steer.

You can still get the filter out with the 1 1/4" bar, but it's harder than it was.
I like having matched 1 1/4" bars, I debated the 1 3/8" bars, still not sure if I should have done them, but am happy with these...

i think the one im thinking of it was decided that he needed motor mounts, causing the eng to sag

I was the one that was having problems with the oil filter removal....we now loosen two clamps on a hose and spin them around and the filter comes out. I have 1 3/8 bars front and rear.

How do you like the huge bars? How much difference did it make?

Wow, I bet that's a fun ride. No open coffee eh? I had the big bastard on the rear of my car for a bit, there were a few driveways I could no longer get into.

like laser said, expect to replace the endlinks.

Why?

I've had 1 3/8" F&R bars on my SC for about 10 years and 90K miles now, in NJ no less, and never broken or bent a rear link.

People bend or break them because they over tighten the damn things. You're only supposed to tighten them until the center spacer just gets tight. In other words, spin the center spacer while you're tightening the nut, and stop when you can't turn the spacer by hand.

Yup, and when you do it like that but they still eat up... then what? I only broke a set on the 97 and I believe its cause they were the wrong length versions. Yet on my 98 I have eaten 4 bushings so far. I tighten them untill the sleeve JUST gets tight and thats it. I still pull bushings through or deform them untill they are worthless.
Why is that? I would love to stop that and if I am doing something wrong I would like to correct it?
I have poly bushings now so maybe I wont have that problem again.

i have 1 3/8" front and rear it is definetly stiff. I would prob go 1 1/4" if i had it to do again.

I have only used the Energy Suspension Poly end links, so maybe you've found the solution.

I've got a XR7 rear bar Plus I have Doug's Delrin bushings and Koni's in the rear All new OEM in the front. The car Is as fun to drive as the vette. I may go to a 1 1/4 front bar when the engine and exhust mods are done. I have about 200 ibs. of weight in the trunk stereo, batteries, and 2 Zex bottles however.
