MK8 Motor in a Ranger

I'd never seen it before, but it looks good!

I was surprised to see that the 4.6 DOHC fitted into the Ranger bay so nicely.

The 4v engines are a tight fit but they are burnout monsters. Just blip the throttle and you'll be replacing the rear tires :). A more feasable swap is the mid to late 80's Thunderbird T/C powertrain. Up the boost to about 30#, retune the pcm, beef up the engine a bit and you will have a 400+ hp sleeper WITH A/C. I'd do the 4v just to be different though.

I'm actually planning on doing one of these swaps too. I have a motor out of a 97LSC, with computer and wiring, and trans and everything, and a guy is going to trade me a ranger with no engine or trans for the shell of the lincoln that I pulled the motor out of. Our plan is to make it look like a complete grampa truck, take it to the track and write 19.6 on the windshield and run some 12s passes.

Or wire spools from the telephone company (lol My dad has been working for verizon (nynex, bell atlantic) for 40 years.

Just go with a pair of Continental engines. One front, one rear. When ya want 4wd just start the other engine. :D
