When we decided to GO NORTH for the summer to run our SEASONAL ICE CREAM BUSINESS,,We decided to leave our MARK in the garage in FLA. One reason I don't really have that much time in the SUMMER MONTHS "AND" the expense to just have a car that sits up here in the garage. Well, lucky I decided to do that. Coming thru CHARLOTTE I suddenly lost Power Steering in our CHEVY PICKUP,,Knowing it had a new belt and new hoses I thought ''WHAT THE HELL!!" ALSO lucky I was driving. Usually my wife drives the Pickup (she's 4'11" and can see better in a truck) and I'd drive the MARK. Well,,just off the exit into a service station (no Garage). I see right away It's the IDLER PULLEY (chevy 305 right on top,,new belt off). I'm on the phone to AAA. A young guy pulls up says he's a mechanic,,and do I need help. I said If you can get me to AUTO ZONE or ADVANCE that'd help. Well, the BOLT WAS BENT also,,so we eventually wound up at a GMC dealer,,getting New idler pully WITH IT'S OWN BOLT. Got it back on with his help holding down THE TENSIONER. We had been using my BRAND NEW 1/4 DR Rachet with a 13mm socket,,he put it in his back pocket,,holding down on TENSIONER,,Some guy pulled in needing a LUG WRENCH,,so we helped him,,front wheel was loose with 2 lugs missing,,after a very recent brake job. I packed up,,my helper was at the pumps getting gas I gave him $40.00 for all his help,,he sure looked like he needed it bad,,had an old car that looked like he was living in it. I was glad I got help right away,,ANYWAY WE'RE UP THE INTERSTATE A MILE OR SO,,"THEN" IT HIT ME. "He still had my rachet and 13mm socket". I don't know if it was just an oversite or he just stole it. My wife always gives everybody the benefit of the doubt. She thinks it was SO SMALL and the guy wanting the LUG wrench distracted us. We were hollaring goodbyes when he was over to the PUMPS and I was putting things back. I know one thing HE GOT A BRAND NEW NEVER USED 1/4dr SEARS RACHET and a 13MM SOCKET. I'm more pissed at myself than him CAUSE I ALWAYS KNOW WHERE MY "STUFF" IS and that time I slipped. Thanks for reading this.
