On a 93' Mark should there be a rubber seal between the M/cyl and the brake booster? I ask cos there wasnt one on mine when i took it off initially but there is a groove for one. Its got me abit puzzled! Thanks. Martin.

HI BLUE, I don't see one on my gen.2 ...But maybe there are o-rings between.
I haven't taken one apart yet.

Just looked at my 93 and doesn't look like there's a gasket there, hope someone can tell you for sure.

Thanks merijon and ponytail john. No you wont see it unless you undo the cylinder as it would be sandwiched. I got a nasty feeling there is supposed to be one and someone sometime bodged it back with silicone or similar. I reckon i may well have changed my booster and brake lines for fun!!!    There definitely wasnt one when i took the cylinder off months back cos i thought it odd at the time but just assumed thats the way it was and it must be an interference fit. But there is a damned groove...

Haha!! Thanks merijon! Guess what i just found a piece of in the old brake booster? Im guessing someone sometime broke it and a piece fell inside. When i took the m/cyl off to do my UCA change i must have broken the bodged sealing! Will try a local parts store tomorrow, see if i can get a seal. That means the booster i removed is still good then. (although abit rusty) If anyone wants it just say! Lol. I bet my rough idle with be cured too!

Thanks merijon! All done just doing the bleeding. Getting a new seal wasnt easy so i made one from a piece of rubber from home depot! Lol. :)

Just a note: The MKVIII uses a cross brake system. You should start with the right rear, then left front, the left rear, then right front. Good luck! :)

Thanks 'Stang. Yeah thats what i've been doing. I have rear jacked up and have been using the T/C to cycle the ABS followed by re-bleeding. Seems to be working... :)
