More and more I am finding Craig's List here in Houston full of Mark's and they aren't moving. There are more Marks on the market now than there are people looking for them. A lot of people here are now trying to part with there's with little success. What do you guys and gals think?

I love mark viii. I have never owned one but i am willing to sell my beloved rx8 just to get one. All my friends call me crazy and laugh when i tell them im going to get a lincoln mark viii. I dont know what it is but I like mark viii No homo. :)

GMAN a month ago I would have agreed with you, but Keatonsdad sold his fairly quickly and bmergner sold his pretty quick also in the K.C. area. There have been alot for sale on Kansas City craigslist all summer. None interested me enough until I bought a collectors edition last week. There's been a clean looking 1st gen LSC on there for 3 months, and hasn't sold. It's down to $2000.

Well Ive only been actively looking for mark viiis for the past year and a half really (since I bought mine in June of 2011), but I have noticed a lot of these Craigslist marks not selling..some have been for sale on and off for the past 6 months or longer..seems that people just don't want to shell out the few grand for a 15 year old car, which makes sense if you are just looking for an average used car since there are newer used cars for the same price. Really the only people looking for mark viiis are the enthusiasts like us which are few and far between. The only ones that sell are the very clean or low mile ones for a decent price. There are a few for sale on Craigslist by me that are low mile but the sellers are asking 10k plus because they think they are collectable..which I don't agree with at this point..and aparently the buyers think the same considering how long they have been for sale for. If you want it to sell you have to compete with all the other used mark viii pricing and be FAIR with the price..I don't know about you but I would never spend TEN THOUSAND dollars on a mark viii..there are many other newer more desirable cars I would rather spend that kind of money on...not.that I don't.desire mark viiis but I just don't think its worth that kind of money.

That's interesting. They are extremely scarce in California as I regularly comb around to see what's out there. I never see them on the road and there's never any for sale in Central Cali. It's so difficult to find one that has been treated with enough respect to warrant taking on the challenge, too. To any degree, these are aging, high performance cars that need to be worked on. However, I went through a billion other types of used cars and found them to be intense crap compared to how much I thought I could buy a Mark for if one showed up. I sold my 2003 Focus with the same amount owing on it as I bought the Mark for and, well, the Mark is five times the car in every way.

I just think that, most especially for the price, these cars have so much to give back. They were high tech in their day, have one of the very best interior designs EVER, have a timeless and gorgeous body, can be modified in a million different ways and I'm keeping mine forever. :D:D:D:D:D

I love it when dealerships are out of their minds. That silver car is alright and looks like the interior is in great shape. HATE the pinstripes and snowflakes. And those carriage top, geezer Marks are for the birds. Cool the mileage is so low, but when a car sits forever at the same price, seems like it might be prudent to lower it. Just a thought. I see dealerships around here do it all the time. Strange way to do business.

Marks for sale in our area Greg because it's Spring, Texas and we roll hard lol. All the marks around us are Owned by people that don't care about what gas they use or what oil they use, and when the car doesn't appeal to them anymore they get rid of it, for example look at that weird guy with the red one around us with the strips lol, point proven

I say: May there ALWAYS be plenty of Mark VIIIs for sale!

Never had a car that I enjoyed driving so much, not even close. Never had a car that got so many compliments from total strangers at the gas pump, even tho it looks like chit with the peeled clearcoat. A guy about 20 at the carwash was polishing the glass and told me "Dude, I *love* your car!"
Hey, I do too. And if I ever total out this one, I know exactly what i'm gonna be in the market for.

The Lincoln Mark VIII is Thundering Elegance, best way I can describe it.

Can I get an AMEN?

I've had guys at work rattle off at me about the latest high performance offerings from other manufacturers (you all know which ones), that put out way more than the 290 horse that mine does and yada yada. I say: Yeah, but they all look like electric shavers.

Lol those are two that I was thinking of..and there are two more that one guy is selling also, one is a white collectors edition with 60k+ miles for $14k or something and the other is another white 2nd gen LSC with 40k miles for the same price..not sure if his ad is up at the moment but I'm sure they're still for sale.

I don't know what's up with those two $10k marks that are for sale from that one dealer but something is fishy with them, they have both been messed with, if you notice both cars have snowflakes that appear to have been literally painted silver instead of the original brushed aluminum..and the silver one is a base model with LSC side trim...so they aren't truly one owner "original"..throws up a flag to me.

That is Pretty Sweet. $8,000? Maybe a s/c

Heres the mod list..(copied from the thread about it)

Update: I texted the guy asking a little about it and he called me back. He said he's owned it for a few years, never driven in winter with no rust anywhere and has around 70k miles if I remember right. He said as far as mods go he has aftermarket coil packs and plug wires on it, some kind of cold air style intake/filter bought through supercoupe performance? Kooks headers, full mandrel bent 3" exhaust with flowmaster 40 seriesmufflers, subframeconnectors, 4:10 gear and possibly something done with the trans..can't remember exactly what he said but most likely a jmod, cobra brakes, spring converted (lowered) and some misc. other stuff here and there as well as all the exterior stuff you see. He says he doesn't drive it much and isn'thard forcash soI'm guessing he's not gonna give it away..but for someone looking to buy a mark and do all of these things to it you really can't beat the price.

Wow! He did all the right things. That's not really a bad price IMO. Parts from Bill aren't cheap either lol

I think being late in the season people are selling off their rwd cars... I know you're in texas, but it always seems people sell those things this time of year.... plus, I mean its a trend/fad car sorta.... they come and go. I used to see LOADS here on cincy craigslist... but the pickins have been slim lately. Dunno if its good or bad. Seems all cars have some sort of rotation when it comes to seeing them for sale. That's just my 2 cents

There aren't alot of decent marks on CL with a reasonable price in Chicago area. I bought my mark off CL out by O'hare for 2k. It's a salvage vehicle with just around 100kmiles on it. I just wished I waited another week because there was a 1994 with 70k miles that came up for $1,400. People seem to think they have a goldmine because it has the DOHC engine like the Cobra's...

Bought mine for a daily driver/project car. Wanted another foxbody stang but those prices are just crazy for what you are getting. Just sucks that my hours got cut last month which was my project money.

Dunno GMAN, POS ones that people are asking money for are sitting but actual proper deals are going fast. sold mine 23 hours after I listed it. Every Mark I have sold I have sold quickly. Thats $1500 Marks up to $10,000 Marks

How much did you get out of your last one if you don't mind me asking?
Within 10% of my asking price. I actually had three people fighting for it. One was going to bring me the money faster but I chose the best home out of the three.

Sales are hit and miss. If you notice, the ones that are untouched by our modding hands, tend to sell more quickly. Especially if they are immaculate. I've been pretty fortunate in my four previous Marks I've sold to find buyers for them. All very nice cars and not POS by the way. It just seems of late, some are getting out of Marks, and one has to wonder why? Keatonsdad sold his, and there are other members selling theirs. Look at k9t8m, he's demodding the the 94 before he sells it. All of the go fast stuff is great until we plan to sell it, and then we are lucky to find a buyer. For me, I won't sell mine, I will probably cover it up and stick it in the barn for a while.

It is getting harder and harder to find parts and that turns a lot of people off. I have had mine sitting for nearly a year and a half now because I have moved on to other things.
Hopefully I get it finished up before winter, being out of it for so long I might re-catch the spark.
