Mark 8 Muscle--Open for Business!!

There was a lot more there than a tranny setup, but I prefer what I have now anyways.

Pics of rear window trim

I have attached photos of the "T" rear window trim. It works with the most extreme warpage on the trim. The "L" is just slightly thinner when installed under the trim. As you can see it completely flattens the trim and raises it slightly on the side view.

you guys keep bitching about the 7 k for a tranny, you do realize he said installed right, yo probably couldn't go to a trans shop and ask them to do that for 10 grand, they would all laugh at you, Just ask mike how much fun it was doing his 5 speed

Well, given the initial cost of the transmission, parts, and labor, $7k probably ain't that bad. But that's $3k more than I paid for my '96 10 years ago and $4k more than I paid for the '97 LSC in March '10. Damn, for that price, I could get three '97 LSC's just like mine. It's just not financially feasible for most of us. If you ever tried to sell the car, you'd lose your a$$ on it big time. To me, it's just not worth it. Now for somebody with more money than they know what to do with, it probably wouldn't matter. But for those of us who hope and pray we have enough money after paying the bills at the end of the month to fill up the gas tank, that kind of cost is a serious issue.

I hafta say that a manual trans makes a car so much more fun, I honestly have been thinking about what car I want to get to replace my Mark VIII because I'm so tired of the auto trans.

I love these cars, but I really want to have something with a stick. I think with a manual transmission, I would probably never get rid of my Mark VIII, I think it would be a blast.

For me, I think this swap would be worth the money, I'd do it and keep this car forever, resale is meaningless in that scenario.

Oh, I'm going to get yelled at for this, but damn it, I'm not known for sugar coating it:

Where in hell were you 10 years ago, when the likes of Evanoff (whom I don't care for, BTW), Geno, and countless others took a chance on the Mark VIII platform before people really started modding them? Now that just about anyone can get "aftermarket" parts for the Mark VIII, you show up here to sell parts.

Personally, I'd rather buy Mark VIII aftermarket parts from Geno because of the chance he took by having aftermarket parts available for the Mark VIII crowd years ago. And I say this while I don't... care (well, "care" is bit harsh... let's just see we don't see eye to eye - long story, I'm not going to rehash it), for Geno. I will not, however, buy parts from that Evanoff shyster.

I understand you're a paid member (and possibly a vendor), so I tried to be relatively nice with my flame.

It's great that you're offering manual tranny conversions, and 7 grand installed is a damned good price, IMHO. But for a manual conversion to a Mark, I go to Mike. I believe he is the Mark VIII manual conversion pioneer on this forum. You get him a hooker, a 24 pack of beer and a hotel room, and he'll travel. Must be a normal size hooker though, I offered him a midget and he turned me down.

And if S, his wife, ever reads this? I'm only kidding. He only did it for two midgets :D

That's fine, but the thing is everyone on this board cannot go to Mike for trans swaps, he isn't a vendor, so that's not an option as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't even let Mike do one on my car if he wanted to, not because I don't want him to, but because I know he can't do this for everyone.

Geno would be a great option, he's done good work on my car and I have no beef with him, but last time I checked he's won't do a manual trans swap for just anyone. Evanoff doesn't offer the swap either as far as I know. That leaves this new guy John.

So yeah, maybe he's new but he's offering something no one else reasonably does. Personally, I welcome more vendors, it's good for all of us, no?

More vendors is always a good thing. Competition, and all.

And I wasn't referring to transmission swaps specifically.

I don't know, maybe it's just me. I have more.... respect, for a lack of a better word, for people who take chances as opposed to people who "ride the wave" as it were.

Either way, I hope he does well with his new product line.

Oh I agree, however, to be quite honest, I think anyone offering stuff for Mark VIIIs is taking a chance. AFA the trans swap, as someone pointed out it costs more than the car in most cases. I can't imagine this guy is going to do high volume and make a ton of money from a "wave" of Mark VIII mods.

If he wanted to do that, he'd do all mustangs, never branch out to the VIII and be done with it.

Yup, I don`t forsee him making tons of money off of the MARK crowd.
Swimming in shallow waters compared to the Mustang pool.

i have thought about the stick in the mark dont seem worth the truble.B ut it would be cool.

No, that's because I'm po right now. I'm buying another one this year, though.

but if you want to split hairs, technically, I DO have one. It just doesn't run. Missing a motor and some other drivetrain stuffs

parts cars dont count

I think the idea is great!

Do I ever see more than maybe one or two people paying $7k for a manual swap... hell no...

Well you can have 3 lsc's, but none of them would be a speed manual mark, also i thinnk that if you are to drop 7k on a trans swap in a car that you initially paid 4k for, you would not have the interest of selling the car, when you start modding a 15 ish year old car, you are not really expecting to make money on it, if you were to find a barn find of a dusty old mark, clean it up, then ya, but modding, not really, unless of course you are fabbing your own stuff like dlf. I am about 7k in the hole on my project, if i were to sell it whole, i would get about 250 bucks, parts about 1200, so no, modding is not the choice to be selling a car unless rent is 7 months past due and your cat just :q:q:q:q on your 500 douche and gabana scarf
