This has been brought up many times before and the general consensus is that it is a total scam. It tries to trick the computer by saying the air is colder than it is, but this will cause problems with the PCM in the first place. Likely your check engine light will come on soon after.

I had a feeling that it was too good to be true, thanks VT!!! :yourock: :L

yes - it's a scam. It's a resistor that you replace your IAT sensor with.

It's an old racer trick - put your IAT sensor in the freezer until it gets down to 40 degrees then measure the ohms. then replace the IAT sensor with that resistance - to fool your car into thinking it's always 40 degrees outside and run a richer a/f mix.

Modern car will tune out this change after a while - thinking you live in a cold place and will adjust back to normal a/f

Hi, Everyone's right don't waste your money. I bought one about a year ago for my 00, Conti... It did nothing. I pulled it right out. All it is, is a resistor that measures .005 OHMS.

But seriously there has to be someone out there that knows who and where to take our cars to get reprogramed? I mean I have watch Tuner Transformation and then seem to always find some shop that knows how to total reformat the computer in your car. Thats what I want and I am willing to pay for it.

don't quote me or anything, but if my memory is working right here :D, I remember reading something where the lincoln LS (and a bunch of other newer cars) werent able to be re-tuned from the stock settings. So you basicly need a whole new EEC... like I said, don't quote me on that... but I swear I remember hearing that a year or two ago (only because I thought it was the most stupid thing I've ever read)

anyone know anything about that?

The issue has always been that the LS used the new Ford PCM and that there wasn't a large enough Tuner interest to make it worth someone's time to crack it. Now that the F150, Mustang, ... all use it - we have it as well!

Yep - fresh off the press - I have been working with a SCT dealer for the past month and we have been able to reflash my PCM with new tunes.

Torrie at FordPartsNetwork http://www.fordpartsnetwork.com/sct1-X.html

Just last night I got the uploads working consistantly - there was an issue with the ABS/TC and FEM, REM modules sharing the same data bus as the PCM - so when you tried to upload the other modules got in the way.

I pulled the fuses for these modules and the upload works fine.

$375 for the unit.

Your PCM code has to already be part of the SCT database for them to be able to tune it. my 01 V8 uses a TPHO and they had cracked it.

Torrie did three tunes for me - mild, wild and mbt

I did three runs each with my G-tech Pro Comp.
- mild was hardly noticable = +6.1rwhp +8.2lbs/ft
- wild better (and what I'm currently running) = +13.2rwhp +16.7lbs/ft
- MBT is a little more agressive = +21.11rwhp +20.7lbs/ft - but it does 'ping' under heavy acceleration and high rmps.

All these numbers are G-Tech numbers - not real dyno numbers. In the past my G-Tech is pretty close to my time slips at the track.

So it looks like this is the real deal - and we can finally get some tuning done!!!!!

Great news for future products - like the SuperCharger.....

whats the drivability like? is this a reliable solution to getting some horsepower?

honestly - I do not believe it's an issue - we are only talking 10% on the most aggressive tune - just like adding aftermarket exhaust or a CAI.... (and I have all 3!!!)

under the most aggressive tune - I did get some 'pinging' under WOT and hig rpms - so I'm running the 'wild' tune - +13rwhp - for the $$$ - it's about equal with the CAI and less than the exhaust.

Quik let me get this right I order one of these units and I am good to go? I dont have to send my PCM in? And I was reading your reply where u stated u had to remove some fuses to make it work or to reset it? Thanks for your help!

You have to make sure that they have your PCM version on file (so they can tune it). Your PCM version has to be part of their database of PCM that they have re-versed engineered. They cannot simply take your PCM code out of your car and un-compile it.

If your PCM code is part of their database then you can order a unit. Torrie will ask you what modifications you have on your car (intake/exhaust/....etc) then he'll craft new tunes for you, loads them into the unit and ships it to you.

To upload the tunes to your car, the flasher plugs into your ODBII port. You have to pull the ABS/TC fuse and the FEM/REM fuse so those modules do not interrupt the uploads. Just pull them before the upload and put them back in after it's complete.

You are my man QuikLS! Thanks a million, by the way do you have Torries phone #? I am looking to change over my air intake to a KKM and thats it, exhaust (catback Borla) system is down the road, ............so with that said do you think I should do that first then the PCM modification after? Sounds like I need to do my exhaust and intake systems before so I dont waste money...agreed? Thanks a million again!

No worries.
SCT claims a gain of 14rwhp on a stock LS - which is about the same as intake, and more than exhaust.

Thanks
