Yesterday I walked out of church and it had been raining. As I was driving I took a curve too fast and started feeling the back end give when I noticed a light on the dash light and blink and the car maintained control! Thank Jesus because it was a ditch on the other side! I have a few questions:

Was the light that came on from the traction control system or the advance trac?

What exactly is the difference between traction control and advance trac?

What does the button in the console behind the electric parking brake turn off?

Please consult your owner's manual. It holds the answer to all your questions.

The button behing the parking brake is the traction control, turing it off allows you the ability to launch harder without loseing power.

I belive there is a difference between traction control and advance trac but I don't what that difference is.

Mine feels like when I launch hard the rear brake lightly come on to reduce wheel spin. I prefer to peddle the gas instead of losing rpms.

Either you have AdvanceTrac (which includes traction control) or you have just traction control.

The switch turns AdvanceTrac or traction control off, whichever you have.

If there's a symbol of a spinning tire on the switch, then you just have traction control.
If there's a symbol of a car with wavy lines under it, then you have AdvanceTrac.

Traction control keeps the rear wheels from spinning using the rear brakes and the ability to reduce engine power.

AdvanceTrac does that too, but adds a very important feature. It uses front and rear brakes, a YAW sensor, and a steering angle sensor. All of this is used to try to keep the car going in the same direction as you are steering it in. It tries to prevent or control skids.

Thanks Joe! Appreciate the thorough explanation

Smart ass I did read the owners manual and it does not tell you the information that I wanted to know! If you didn't want to respond to my question or didn't have an answer to it then you should have just kept you comment to yourself! Nobody put a gun to your head and made you respond to my question!

I didn't really feel like he was being a smartass?

Maybe not, Maybe I took it the wrong way but the fact is if he couldn't answer my question why say anything in the first place? Yeah I know the first thing to do before posting is to search and look at the owners manual which is what I did.

it depends on which system your car has (consult manual if you are unsure)

on is a much more advanced system as the other, and does a lot more. (consult manual to see exact differences)

this depends on you answer to the first question (consult manual if you are unsure)

he really wasn't being a smart ass, he was giving a solution that answers most of his questions as at the time, he didn't give enough information to get correct answers

1loudLS you tryin to be funny so just do me a favor and don't even answer any of my post!

I can assure you that I'm not

so just do me a favor and don't even answer any of my post!
the favor I'm doing for you is by showing you how you can look and find these answers for yourself, instead of asking and having to wait around for a response.

you know the whole teach a man to fish thing...

I guess if you insist, we can just go hard core spoon feeding. I remember a time when a man would take pride in learning something new and not having to rely on every body else, guess i just too old fashion.

Yeah I know the first thing to do before posting is to search and look at the owners manual which is what I did.

I have a hard time believing this, you asked us if that blinking light was the trac control or the advancetrak. but you are the only one who can look at the emblems and see what system you have.
the manual would have showed you
A: what the blinking light was for.
B: which icon you had on the button telling which system you have.

again, two question you asked, but nobody on here can possibility know with out looking at the car, which you are the only one who can do this.

well, he may have just lost the most valuable resource on the forum...

no, Im still here

Next time (although posting here again probably wont get you to far) search a little harder

(along with many others)... Or state in your original post you already "tried" searching. That way you wont look like the Jacka$$ you do right now.

... and you attend church regularly with an attitude like this ?

Hmmmm !!!

SexyLS, you are one lucky man. The guys who didn't answer your question directly (because their fingers hurt), they are the ELITE!! They have never needed clarification before and they responded to YOU! I wish I was you.

It's a learning process... When you are new to internet forums (especially ones that help you) - you goof up and get blasted. That is how nearly everything on the internet works.

Ever seen a YouTube video that was recently posted and some numbnuts in the comments is saying something like "lolwut, 303 views and 3000+ likes?! - WTF". You see, this person is watching their first youtube video ever, or has a terrible memory, or is not very observant. The ignorance that is attached to this person by the sheer comments they have already made, are enough to embarass anyone once they're called out.

So you can suck it up and keep posting here for more free and relatively quick answers. Or have a hissy-fit and look even dumber.
