I was sitting at a stoplight a car came up fast and stopped beside me, couldnt tell wht make it was but he was stepping on the break while giving it gas let up and kept doing that, so when the lite turnd green we took off and I was way ahead of him, I noticed he gave up at about 60 mph. so I slowed back down to speed limit and the next lite was red, and as he was comming to the lite I seen it was a Mark VIII! Now know one thing, I was trying to buy a 98 mark but they couldnt finance it so I got the LS. I thought the LS had the 4.6 and when I found It had a 3.9 I was a POed, But I thought about it and liked the looks of The LS better then the Mark so I Accepted it. Well anyway at the stoplite he wanted to try again and I thought for sure he would kick my a$$,mostly because of the slow shift the LS has, we took off when the lite turned green and sure enough he was about 2 ft ahead, and I thougt to myself my a$$ is whooped. But wait now Im ahead! and I ended up kicking his a$$! Now I Love my LS more.

Dont let the Mark owners see this thread. They will come up with all kinds of excuses. They may even be a little upset. Must have been the driver.:p :p :p

I owned 2 Mark VII s

still have the 84 Bill Blass In storage

and had a 96 Conti

4.6 but do not like FW drive so I used it for a trade in on my 01 LS

You do have one more gear in the tranny. That allows for higher gearing.
It's funny that the 4.6 makes as much power as the VVT 3.9

I wonder what would happen if you had if you had the 30+HP 2003+.

I have both and yes the Mark guys will deny this. I have said this before.

Gen1 MarkVIII vs. Gen2 LS good race.
Gen2 MarkVIII vs. Gen1 LS good race.

The LS either one is stronger for the short times than most Marks. My 9.3 1/8 time with only intake and exhaust is untouched by Marks with intake and exhaust. The Mark is stronger when at higher speeds but a Gen2 LS should be able to keep in check.

Man, you would be real surprised if you see somethings Ive done. I let a Mustange pass while I switched lanes and droped it into 3rd behind him and walked away in the other...I love the select shift!;)

That's funny. Yesterday on my way home, a GT Mustang wanted to race. I'm not really into racing but the LS sure did kick some butt. It was an '02-'05?? I think...

I love my car!

I just bought a 94 5.0 I am curious to see how My ls will keep up after I brake in the engine on the mustang. It is an automatic, so it will be an even battle. I might have to put the stock wheels on the LS to make it even. I had a 89 5.0 with a t5, there is no way a LS would have been able to keep up, unless he was spraying. Ill take them to the track here in a month or so. Switching out the wheels on the mustang tomorrow. Little adjustment on the timing and it will be ready for a drive to the beach.

Your LS should beat that Mustang, or real close stock for stock. The auto and convertable slow it down abit.

I got beat up pretty bad when I was being provoked by some Benz tho....I didn't even get to read the badge and he was gone...

But even those Lancer EVO's....I had one mess with me at about 45 -50 mph and I dropped the select shift to 3rd on his ass also and he was left behind without his precious boost to propel him off the line. Once we stopped at a light I let him go and well he was gone but thats besides my point....:p

I bet if you got TSW's that .5 would be shaved...;)

Ya on the highway I haven't found much that can touch my LS. My kill list includes countless 99-05 GT's more f-bodys then I can shake a stick at and a few M3's

But what really suppressed me was my buddies worked 96 Mark and another friends 03 Marauder with an exhaust CAI and SCT so as far as work goes where even. From a light ether one will eat me till about 60 then I start catching up and around 75 I'll pass the mark and at about 90 I pass the Marauder. If we go from a 40MPH or more roll I leave both of them in the dust.

No he wasnt trust me...they are quick but not when he cant use the boost off the line...he also didnt drop the gears like I did....to cocky maybe but not asleep.

Boost of the line? They always boost.

Well I guess I could see that if he didn't downshift, he would have had to be in 5th, but they have incredible power low, not like a older Turbo. I've driven one...good friend of mine.

Yes they allways boost but it is much more significant off the line, especialy against a car like a LS.

Sorry, run with... but you can't kill any of those.

99-04 GTs should pull everytime on you. 05 GTs should walk you pretty easy, autos less than manuals. Older Mustangs 98 down are beatable by the LS but its not a killing. Marks and Marauders should hang fine on the highway, you can beat them from a light more likely.

Sorry but even the evo and wrx witch are both ultimately able to keep up with anything elise out there including exotics still don't got nothing to those turbos spin up and those little 4 banners in them have to be turning at a decent click for them to make enough back pressure to spin the turbo's. If he didn't drop the clutch then a car with a decent 6 cylinder should walk away from one.

M3's...NEVER...I hate to addmit it but that aint happening.....but the stangs I believe in my race was with a GT not the newest generation but just before...it was pretty worked at least sounded like it and the kid had a Cobra R kit...LOL with the big wing...LOL.
