Looking to buy a 96' LSC Diamond Anniversary

Hey guys im looking to buy a 96' mark viii. its got a lot of miles(243K) but a lot of parts have been replaced.

good deal? and is there anything i need to really look at before i decide to buy it?
 
It's a real LSC which is a plus, it isn't a diamond anniversary...

With any 96 you have to be prepared for the fact that they have rare 96 only parts that a very hard to find and replace...

what kind of parts are those?
 
VCRM, controls many things, fan, ac, fuel injectors... hard to find and expensive when you do

IMRC controlers, basically you are screwed when these go out, good used ones are getting VERY hard to find... but there are ways around this...

Wiring, all the 96 wiring harnesses are year specific... but they rarely go bad..

The good stuff (cause I don't want you to think it is all doom and gloom), It's an LSC, OBD2, and looks to be a steal for the $1500!

If and when it dies you can easily part it out and make back some ching... lots of people want those bumpers and other parts :)

i think hes replaced some/most of those parts. so how do you tell its a real LSC?

oh ok cool. well he'll let me have it for 1250. i guess because nobody else wants to buy it because of the mileage. if i look at and like it, ill buy it. i cant do anything until saturday because the guys out of town. so if i buy it saturday ill post many more pics & vids. :D
 
after driving my 95 mark 8 to 408,000 miles I wouldn't be afraid of one with half the miles..

for 1250.. go buy it.

That is.. if you can stomach the hard to find and expensive to replace parts.

The 96's were my all time favorite, first gen styling with second gen electronics obd2.

If the 96's weren't so hard to get parts from I would have gotten one over the 98 LSC I wound up buying when my 95 got stolen.
 
Not bad for a 96 LSC, but with that many miles I would make sure the owner has kept up on the maintenance.
 
I would not buy unless......there were meticulous records...... and it was in excellent shape......with that many miles....IMO....
 
what do I always see people using to plug the hole from where their silencer was? looks like a lens cap
 
This looks just like my 96 with 92K. I like the car, but finding replacement electrical parts is an unsuccessful and time consuming hobby.

It's a cap designed to plug PVC pipe... you can find them with the couplers and other plumbing accoutrement at Home Depot.

yea the guy has all the mantinence records, and he has replaced about twice the parts as listed on the add.
 
My 1993 died at 250,069 miles , so I'm not sure how much is left in that car. The head cracked on mine. Tommy's car was a fluke. I have not idea how his car made is that long after beating (drag racing) it as much as he did. Don't get me wrong, I'm jealous!! Maybe the warm weather helped his last so long??

I'd pay no more than $500 for a car with that many miles. The engine our tranny could blow at any moment in a Mark with that many miles......not to mention all the other potential problems.

I sold mine to a junk yard for $300 with the cracked head.
