OK, so as some of you may know I totaled my '02 LS last Feb, and looked for months to try and find a replacement. Luckly, Rich88LSC sold me his '06 silver/black with 40K back June. :D Awesome decision btw, because except for a few minor (very minor actually) dings/scratches the car is perfect, and even has quite a few add-ons (thanks btw rich). Only bad thing is the car has been sitting in my backyard since because I had no time to work on it over the summer .

Ive been working on the car for the past couple of weeks (in my spare time) because since Sandy hit things @ work have finally been a lil slow on LI because of all the disruption with the storm - so ive been taking advantage :D. Anyway, im gonna post progress/build pictures here so if anyone has any questions I can help them out, but more so to help anyone else who is planning on doing anything similar.

The laundry list of things is long, but ive got a lot of good ideas from all of you so I hope i can finally contribute. Enjoy

when I first got her ...and yep, thats the 02 Honda DD in the background

Test fitting the clear corners Alex made me - these are the "medium" tint

These are the "light" tint ones...and the ones i went with because the car is silver

using Alex's idea of spreading them works much better than the way they come from umnitza.

these little nuts and bolts actually came from the mounting brackets for my DDM Hid Kits ...go figure how perfect they were

They look like different cars. Is that a silver birch clearcoat metallic?

guess thats because the second pictures were takin at night, when the car was covered with moisture...and yup thats silver birch

Are you installing rings in the fogs as well?

No rings in the foglights...not a big fan of that look...i removed them to refinish them (yes even though they are glass, i read on a bimmer fourm its possible) then im gonna cover them with 3m 14mil scotchguard...and hope that lasts

man that looks sharp as hell - lights on my 2k are seriously hurting!
so are you using and restoring your headlamp pieces and adding the angel eyes and stuff or a complete kit you can get online? i saw another thread on restoring the lens etc - alotta work to bring my tired bitches back to life - lol yours look great!

thanks...however i havnt "refinished" the lights yet...thats next...take a look at this thread on how to do it

...the angel eyes are a "kit" that includes the rings and the transformer boxes, but everything else is from the OEM headlights. your headlights are a lil different than the 03-06's so your angel eyes and install process is different, but the end result is very similar.

take a look here http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=71600

if you search, i know there are a few threads on how to do this for 00-02 headlights..goodluck!

Nicely done. After seeing these pics, I want to tint my clear corners now.

Those tinted reflectors looks sweet!

Did you beef up that solder joint?

unfortunately not :(

idk if they started making things a little differently...but i tried like hell to get the back of the rings off and no luck. they appeared to be glued and not just friction-fitted. I tried knives, fine screw drivers, blades, hooks and picks but they didnt even budge. When i started chipping little pieces of plastic off near the top of the ring i pretty much gave up. the last thing i wanted was to break one of them in an effort to make them better. I could clearly see how they were put together, and what you were talking about with the back and front halves with the LED board ion the middle, but like i said, im pretty sure i could see a very thin coating of "super glue like" liquid pushed out of the joint in some areas.

I was very careful when spreading them, and actually a lil conservative - only spread them 1 1/8" instead of the 1 3/16" ...and i never pushed them past that...i could see the solder joints through the plastic with a flashlight and no cracks (yet)...

im gonna hope for the best and cross my fingers :slam

P.S. thanks for the help...and ill take a few pics of the rings before i put the passenger side back together

The clear corners look great, glad to finally see a gen2 with them installed.

Your ls is coming along nicely, well done!

Puddle Lamp LED conversion

I took a different route with the puddle lamps. Instead of the festoon LED replacement with either 4 or 6 SMD LEDs...I went a little more permanent...and i think the light out put is at least 2x's as good.

I purchased the LEDs off ebay - see link - they are 2W a piece. I removed the reflector shield, wired the black and red leads to the connectors inside the housing with crimp on female connectors, and filled with silicone .

I will take some night pics soon, been busy with everything else, but here they are un-installed.

Nice. I bet that will definitely help with output. I wish they hadn't used such a frosted/distorted lens to cover the puddles in the first place.

This mod makes the car look 8 years younger.

TRUE... maybe (cough, alex, cough) could do something about it
