Lincoln Mark VIII collectibility Factor

I have a mint 98 LSC. I'm wondering if these cars will ever become collectible, Dose anybody have any solid info. on this? ( ie. Stats,facts,numbers ect.):)

Who knows how collectible they will ever be.

I can't stand them myself.

Give that all prior Marks have become "collectables", I am sure the VIII will be no different.

The Mark VI is somewhat collectable and the VII and VIII are a little.

Some may define a true collectable as a car, no matter how bad its condition, that can be restored and has value. The VIII just is not there yet. Too many nice specimens and too many not worth restoring. But look at a Mark II or III and at this time its hard to find one rotting away. Someone will want it (value). The IVs are entering that period now.

So in thirty years the VIII may have its day as a real collectable.
 
i was going to take another trip this weekend in my time machine, i'll probably go to 2030, i'll let you know what they are going for if i can find any.



honestly how on earth is anyone supposed to know the answer to that question until we get more into the future, hence the time machine comment. thats like asking people in 1925 if john f kennedy was gonna get shot in the head, how would anyone know?
 
Given enough time, any car will become "collectible". Whether the Mark VIII ever be on a par with something like a '71 Hemi Cuda today, I'd say the chances of that are nil. More likely it'll become the equivalent of a '69 Bonneville. Big luxury car with a big engine, but limited appeal. Plus we're talking about 40 years later.

Then again, if people keep parting them out for minor problems, there may only be two left in a few years like rooster said. :D
 
They are collectable ... I purchased a 93 Mark VIII in 2004, a 94 and 95 in 2005 sold the 94 in 2005 repurchase the 94 in 2006, then purchase a 93 in 2010. I'm colllecting them LOL

For a frame of reference, I was watching the Mecum Auto Auctions the other night and they had a '78 Camaro that the owner had spent over $30,000 on a full frame-off rotisserie restoration with all NOS parts and the bidding stopped at something like $7000. Granted that car was built during the automotive dark ages of the late seventies, but still...
 
I don't think that these will be collectible. I could be wrong, but the 93s are already 18 years old and pristine examples can be had for cheap and trashed ones are almost free. They may increase in vaule later, but they will be about as collectible as a 77 Pinto is now. I may be wrong. I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.

You might have a mint 98 LSC but it is never going to be a high dollar car... I think that the lowest mile CE the verts that survive, the supermark, and maybe the Chameleons will... maybe.
 
you know how old will be in 2030?dont want to even think?ill definitely be looking for a midlife crisis sports car by than?2030:(?will also be a collectible?yikes!
 
46...yeah good time to go through a mid life crises and explain to the future misses why I’m spending 30k on an old 98 mark... :-D

Everything will be a COLLECTIBLE as in THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER. I'm 71 and my 57 yr. old wife says I'm a COLLECTIBLE. I have a SHARP handheld calculator "that lights up,,batteries". I use it at night counting/collecting money in our fleet of Ice Cream Trucks. I bought two in 1977. My drivers call it my DINOSAUR. We do have several adding machines and calculators. I love the one with the batteries because it's FAST "unlike" the solar ones. The solar ones are like this "A number says to the number next to it,,did he push you or me?" The solar ones are S-L-O-W. However I would like to go with Jamie when he builds that TIME MACHNE "only I want to go back".

if your old dinosaur ever fails, you can buy a dual power calc. they came out with them about 20 years ago, it has battery for fast responses, and solar to help the battery last a LOOOONG time.

Hope that old dinosaur isnt emitting to much radiation for ya,

is it the glaring red or green display?
 
I just use this, batteries last FOREVER.
