I was driving to work today in the rain and my interior lights just went out. I turned my lights off and back on..they came on again. Went out a few min later. Worked again after work, but went out on the ride home. I'm guessing that it's the lighting module and i know you can't get them from ford anymore from what i found searching. Are they year or code specific and does anybody got one? 97 lsc if it matters

rockauto.com has them for $47.79 if you're speaking about the daytime running lamp module.

Are you talking the gauge lights?

Its the little sensor on the left side of the dash, in semi dim light it can't decide what to do so it flips back and forth, some tap over its eyes fixes that problem...

i hope that is it and I'll try kk, but i don't think it is. They will go out and wont come back on even with the light switch manually on. Its all of my interior dash lights...my autometer gauges are run off of the illumination wire as well and the light in them will go out too, but the headlights stay on. They don't go in and out. They will go out then when i turn the hl switch off and back on they will come on again, but after 3 or 4 times they will go out and stay out. After it sat for 8 hours they worked again but did the same thing. I am guessing the hl switch itself or what i gleaned from searching the light module. Anybody else got a guess?

That is how it works, doesn't matter if the switch it full manual on, if that sensor thinks it is bright enough out it shuts of your illumination.... I only use my headlight switch in manual.

Now that makes more sense. I don't have a Gen II so I don't have that problem.
Gen 1's have the same sensor.

Even with the light switch on if the sensor does not think its dark enough then it will not turn on the interior lamps. If you want to check all you have to do is turn on the lights and then trow a towel over the sensor on the top of the dash on the passenger side.

Oh yeah, they do, don't they. :p

I only use my switch in manual but I have never noticed my dash lights going out and I have them turned up as bright as they can go.

Someone said "sensor on the left" and I thought that meant while sitting in the car and I know I didn't have a sensor on the left.
