Lokking up the Supra's 2JZ engine I completely forgot the the SC300 has the the same engine with the turbo. And that the SC400 has the 4.0 V8.Looking at it I couldn't help but cmpare them to the M8.

I must say that I like the styling of them.Sure the SC400 with the V8 is nice but if I were to buy one I think I would choose the SC300 with the 2JZ.I just like that engine. It can take some serious abuse.

I also found this video. This what some of the guys on here and M8.org should do.That would be sweet.

YouTube - SC's Gone Wild

Not being a dick KBR, but what does this have to do with a Mark VIII tech or talk forum? Should of been posted in anything goes or general discussion.

I like those cars. I played around with some late 80s early 90s supras and loved them.
Maybe I will get one for my next project.

Nice vid if you like watching the same thing over and over again..

But i do like the sc's.

The SC300 does not have a turbo. There are slight diffrences between the two motors internals as well.

One of my all time favorites, briefly considered before I bought my mark. Brandon talked me out of it... trans issues or hard to find parts or something like that. I'll always be a Japanese car guy at heart.

People don't mod them much, not around here anyway, but when they do the results can be spectacular. I saw a turbo swapped SC300 last fall at a local car show... scary powerful and still classy. I loved it. If I picked one of the two up I would also go with the SC300 as well... though my reasoning is the manual trans option :D.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there is NO comparing the 4.6 to the 3.0 toyota! The 3.0 engine's are capable of making a sh!tload of hp! I know if a 4.6 is built right it can also but just the fact that 1500+ hp can be had out of a 3.0 straight 6 is just crazy! I also love 2jz swaps into the lexus sc300 or 400. You get the power of a supra and the luxury of a lexus. Thats my opinion:D

Don't know much about them, but I prefer their looks to those of the Mark VIII.

Can't believe GM tried to compare their ugly, antiquated, wrong wheel drive Riviera to the Lexus (and Lincoln) in that dumb video!

I just thought it was a cool idea for a video really.Maybe there could have been some changes to it but still a cool idea. IMO.

You would be correct. Thanks for the correction. But like the M8's engine. You can always put those parts. ;)

Actually, choosing it for the manual trans would also be another good reason but driving a manual trans car is a little tuff for me these days :D.

I had just read that a tuner shop has internals for the automatic to withstand power up to 900 hp.The price of it? That I can not find.
so ghey...
Just a little :D.But like I said. The idea is cool just with a few changes.

My point exactly.Would still choose the 4.6 over the 2jz but damn they can hadle some power.

There's a guy on a local forum that has an SC300, IIRC it's making high 5xx rwhp. Clean car. He's going to be one of my first call outs when my Mark is done.

...The SC300 already has a 2JZ. A 2JZGE. I'm sure you mean 2JZGTE. If you spend wisely, you can spend a similar amount of money to make a similar HP level in a 2JZGTE as you would with a 4.6, it's just that the 4.6 will do it 2000rpm sooner and make some semblance of torque under 5000rpm. 1500 is a big stretch for either motor unless you have some serious bank.

Don't you just love it when there is a "target car" for another purpose to build your own ride?

I haven't even begun on mine yet and I am already setting the "cross hairs" on any ride here. :D

yea 2JZGTE turbo engine is what I meant. I was just saying how impressive the 3.0 is being only 6 cylinders 181 cubic inches and capable of making 1,500 (yes with some serious coin) as well. You will spend a sh!tload on just about any engine making that kind of power anyway! A mark 8 with bolt ons and a supra or a supra powered lexus with bolt ons wouldn't even be a race! That supra or lexus would put a serious a$$ woopin on our marks.

Kinda. Even the best 4.6 Cobra can only handle 600ish rwhp on Premium or 700ish on E85 with stock internals. Granted the crank is good for 1200ish and the rods are not too shabby.

The 2JZGTE on the other hand can hold well north of 1200 hp on stock internals. Just need a ginormous snail.

The team (forgot the name, too lazy to look it up) that was running two Toyota Solara full tube door slammers were making 2000 hp on a complete stock bottom end with custom head work and some huge snails huffing out 38+ psi.

Those motors are some of the stoutest (is that a word?) stock full production motors ever made.

So cost is in their favor. If you have the motor you can spend $6000 on a nice turbo and fuel setup and make 900+ hp. With a Mark you would need a $3000 forged stroker kit, $1500 (used) FR500 heads, $6000 intercooled supercharger, $1000 in fuel mods and another $600 in machine work.

That being said, I would prefer the C head twin screw Mark over the Soarer any day of the week. :)

I wouldn't think you would choose otherwise Bill..lol! When all is said and done, I will be on the search for a supra once again that someone dumped a sh!tload of cash into and get it for half of that:D I will also get another mark to go next to thatand my jeep srt8.......sh!t, I need a bigger garage lol!

I know that there have been others since but the Accufab guys were the fasest I think with the stock crank with their Cougar. They had made 1,200 at the rollers. They now race a S197 based car.

Would you be thinking about the guys that ran in the NOPI racing series that raced the Solara? I don't know if they were stock internals but yeah they sure made some serious power.

And like you.A C head swap and a blower in a Mark would be my decision as well.Glad I have one to start with.

Now if only I can think of a way to rob a bank in a wheelchair .

The only stock 4.6 crank that can hold 1200 hp is the 8 bolt forged Cobra and Mach Cranks.

ANY 2V car or auto 4V car will not last past 750 RWHP. I know of 8 different Mustangs that have snapped theirs after 650ish. Stiull dont know how Mikes made it to 750 rwhp but it finnaly snapped last year.

The Cobra crank was what I was talking about.

I have read somewhere that the cast cranks are good to about 700+ but I would feel more safe at about 550 if I had to.But the Cobra/Mach 1 crank is always a nice thing to have no matter what.

Edit:Just so some are wondering. The manual trans Mach's only have the forged crank.Auto's have a cast crank.
