I got this idea by looking at bullschmidt's headlight with the 2 LED bulbs behind his clear reflector showing. This was just to get an idea the work involved and how it woul turn out, it's a fast/crappy job on a school night.
I dropped a few LED's and i guess over cooked a few others so the letters aren't completely filled like I would've liked. I'll get extras next time and fill them up so they look even and nice.
I ordered a 24'' LED strip light from v-leds and took off the little LED bulbs to use. If anybody knows where to find the little bulb by themselves, please share. I had an extra clear reflector laying around so I drew "LS" in a size that would fit inside the reflectors edges. I then layed the LED's over the line and super glued them on the piece of paper. I used speaker wire to connect them, which was easy once they were glued on the paper. I rushed so I didn't take the paper off the S. Also, to make the lights work, I wired a resistor in series to the LED bulbs, which are wired in parallel. I'll snap some pics in the sun because these are on the bright side and my camera can't get a good shot of them. I'm thinking that these will also look better on the amber reflector, but still look good on the clear like shown.
I'll need to buy a smaller soldier gun to make the next one nicer, mine is too thick from the tip and it's hard to work with it and these small LED "bulbs".
I think it has potential, but wont know until they are installed.I thought it would look cool if I got LED turn signal bulbs and when they are off, the "LS" would be on instead of the 2 stock led bulbs,Got that idea form andrizzle in his video. I'll be receiving my last set of headlight for this year to do the angel eyes in and clear reflectors, so I'll snap some pics with the LED "LS" behind the reflector to get an idea of the finished product. It might look better in an amber reflector so there isn't too much light coming though, we'll see.
And yes, it's ugly but got the job done for now
