Leaking front air strut is this why

Hey guys front end was lowering slowly so I decided to take it my shocks out to see which one it was. Well I took them both out and cleaned them up and reinstalled them. Well when I fired it back up air came hissing out of the drivers side and would go right down I tore it back out and found this is this I think this is were it is leaking does the shock vent from here>

It can leak air there, I know the original driver's side on my 98 did. The only way to really tell is put them back in the car and spray soapy water on it to see if it bubbles up.
 
Do you see any dry rot on the bag itself? If it is just that one spot, you can patch that area with urethane. Just make sure it is clean and dry, and all the air is out of the bag, and you can fill it with urethane and let it cure for 24hrs before filling it back up again. I don't know how long it will last, but that's what I did on the one on my 98 as a temporary fix.
 
Yea on the bags the drivers side was worse, just some little cracking nothing huge or that soapie water wouldnt bubble. I mean when the pump kicked on the air coming out was load and did nt take long to leak out

while I had the shocks out I cleaned them up and streached the out and put a verly light coat of armoral all on the bags.
 
If they are leaking down that fast, and there are no obvious tears, then it is most likely worn out O-rings where the solenoid clips into the strut.
 
the air is definitely coming out of that V mark, soapy water won't do anything, it will just get blown aside

if one is doing it the other is sure to follow from the stress of trying to support the whole car
 
I had a 1 year old arnott spring rip there. New bags, old bushings. I think the new american air springs do away with that bushing.
 
that V is a split in the bushing, its a bushing and an air plug all in one, when they split, throw it away, its garbage. there is no way to fix it, replace it.
 
could go the cheap route and put some tire sealent in them and mix it around. I put some in my front bags but never installed them. heard it works though.
 
if you want the tire sealant to vent back into the compressor and wreck the dryer go for it, thats not a very good bit of information to post, thats going to ruin the entire air ride system. just replace it, dont hack the :q:q:q:q up.

from what i've read it stays on the bottom and doesnt effect any of the a/s componenents. do a search..

from what i've read it stays on the bottom and doesnt effect any of the a/s componenents. do a search..gotta mix it around when u put it in though.
 
well you can put fix-a-flat in your air struts, i just like to fix my stuff and other peoples stuff properly. i'm not into hackjobs!!

if u dont have much money i see f/f the way to go. But yes, fixing it the corect way is for the better.
 
Fix a flat will never get to that part of the bag, and i'm positive that crack is too big for ff to plug. Ff might seal cracked bags, but not that.
 
I painstakingly tried to fill the hole with Gorilla glue, to hold till I can get some new ones, and it would not hold, I need front struts, will all years fit? 93-98 I mean

it took abit but it got in there. i ended up getting a killer deal on a lowered coil kit for $170 new so i never installed them. They will end up in the garbage though.
 
May be a stupid question, but how would you test the air bags to see if they hold air while they are off of a vehicle?
Could you just pump air through the valve with a regular compressor and wait for a week or so to see if it deflates at all? what pressure do these bags hold?
 
I had mine shock out and plugged in the seanoid compressed the hight sensor and turned it on. It blew it up and then I could see my gorilla glue did not hold the top. got a 98 from Jamie seems to be holding up so far so good see what tomorrow brings

i had a spare ft bag, on my car now, and i put a rubber tipped air gun to the orange collar on the solenoid and hooked up a 9 volt battery to the solenoid to open it and filled it up, dunno what psi but i know the stock system is around 90
 
So SAD LOOKING

I kept seeing a Maroon Mark in the Walmart Parking lot over here near Riverview with the LEFT REAR DRAGGING "BAD". Must be an employee,parked same area of parking lot for several days. Yesterday I noticed the rear was up and level,made me feel better. I left a note under wipers with this sites webpage address. Might help the guy/girl ??
