OK away from the Big n Little thread and title spelled right this time:rolleyes:
I went and got a new pressure side power steering line and go to replace it today. I swear it's not whats leaking :confused:I

I know my valve covers are leaking but it's into the spark plug wells and it doesn't seem to be the outside or bottoms?

Yeah it's engine oil but from where??

Looks like the oil sensor is leaking.

Not sure cause it is oily all the way on the other side of the engine and kind of before the sensor too:confused:

Unless that is a known leak point and I might as well replace it just to make sure?

When mine was leaking on my 97, it was at such a rate, that I could see it leaking from the oil pressure sensor when running. I would try that first, and if it doesn't work, then it's probably the oil filter adapter gasket.

I just did the oil filter to block gasket after a almost catastrophic failure on the way to work. Luckily it was at the end of the day and I was able to put my car on a lift and swap in a new gasket. Plus as I was looking up there the block and adapter are dry by the block.

If it is that sensor all will be good and it just started leaking after I replaced the gasket anyway. So it might have been broken when I was taking the entire deal apart?

Part of the problem may be that your car is upside down. But yeah I agree that you should replace that sensor.

FYI your cruise control switch is the same type of sensor (not the same part #) so when it leaks...it's the same with your brake fluid, it just goes everywhere

swap the sensor and then clean everything under there with simple green, then recheck

Well neither Autozone or Pep Boys has it so off the dealership I go tomorrow...

That's strange the autozone near me has them in stock. I only know because I need one to, they run like $4.99 or something like that there.

EDIT!! Sorry I am talking about the sensor on the side of the oil pan, guess I need to look at pictures better before I post!

Yeah they tried to convince me to try that part first since that is what they had

Well $14 some odd dollars from the dealership. Seems like the same piece Pep Boys offered me sept this has sealant on the threads already. Off to install it when my car cools down.

Never never never shop at Autozone .. Wal-Mart rejects ... PepBoys ... I have no clue about them ... I doubt theya are any better.

Just don't over tighten ...when it stops it stops... Otherwise you will be replacing the oil filter adapter housing. And leak a lot of oil

when the oil sensor leaks and you drive in the wind it will spray oil everywhere. to see what i mean try standing up in a pick up truck going 40 mph and piss toward the wind i bet it goes all over you!! i have a friends 97 in my shop that was covered in oil underneath, i degreased the whole chassis, washed it off, blew it dry with my leaf blower, started the car and got underneath the car and layed there and waited, and waited, and waited, finally i see the oil leak, oil pressure sending unit, $8.44 later and she's all good again! that little leak can make a HUGE mess.

Got done yesterday and sprayed down the K frame to get all the oil off. Wont be able to tell if it worked for a but tho cause now it's raining out :(
