Been browsing around here and I keep hearing about how great this KKM intake is!

I looked it up and found it on their site for only $90 I have an 02 LSE V8.

Few questions,

What kind of power gain would I get?
Any increase in mileage?
Better sound?

watch out for LSKONCEPTS.COM I got my KKM for my '00 for only 50 bucks including shipping back in August (for my 22nd bday)

As far as mileage, I went from 13.5mpg on Chevron Supreme (92 Octane) to a mix around 17.8-19.5mpg (Determines how often I use the freeway and the damn rain/snow we got this winter) using the same gas/station

Sound...oh lord it's a sweet sound, getting the Intake tube from LSKONECPTS soon and that will open it up as well.

THIS UNIT is easy to clean too. I've taken it off twice since summer and there has been almost no residue on it, wiped it all down then put it back on.

Took me and my buddy 5minutes to install and the unit is all one piece. Have fun if you buy it, I haven't disliked it in ANY way.

great product, small increase in gas mileage, small growl, and it's easy to clean. get the CAI alongside it and then your in business. get it from Ken, he'll take care of you

CAI is cold air intake, nothing about the KKM intake kit is CAI. Rick simply has it confused:p

He is speaking of the entire system from the cone on to the tube that connects to the throttle body. Get the tube along with it and it works best.:D

ahhh, I dont think so, not enough cash ATM

I know Pektel just has separate mufflers on his 00, I really want a nice sound, thats really all Im going for.

How do CherryBomb Glasspacks sound on an LS? haha

You could easily find someone that can bend the tube and weld a few small pieces on it for you dirt cheap like I did.

The tube. Just buy the adapter & filter and have the tube made.

thinking about getting the short ram from lskoncepts. why is the gen 2 $40 more than the gen 1?

Finding the sound you want can be hard if it's not easily gain. I got Corza fixing me up a custom kit so it'll be fun once I get it installed after I get my body kit in.

 Really, you will basically get the same sound out of the LS. It wont vary at all.

I'm not sure about the kit available for the gen 2, but I do believe you would need an extra piece that you don't need on Gen 1. Gen 1 the MAF is set in the intake tube. On a Gen 2 the MAF is set in the Stock air box assembly so you'd need the MAF adapter?

Maybe I'm wrong... but I think thats where the extra cost is from.

I think you got that backwards. The gen 1 the MAF is separate from the tube and needs to be connected with a coupler and then you need a adapter to adapt the cone to the MAF. Thats if I am reading your post correctly:D

If you look at the pic, with the gen 1 all you get is a plate ( plus filter ). How ever from looking at the pics on LSK, since I dot own a Gen 2 it appears you do get a bit more than just a plate.

Looking at all the stuff again I think with the Gen 2 you get the entire MAF housing billet made with a filter.

Why the hell dont they make a billet MAF for the first gen so all you need is the filter rather than the plastic housing and a stupid plate?

lskoncepts may be a bit on the higer side for price, but he is a trusted vendor. I've bought items from him, and never felt that I was "ripped off." Don't talk smack about a trusted vendor here simply because you are only interested in price, and don't care about customer service.

Never heard them on an LS.

Did you look under my hood during the meet? I have a cone filter setup that I bought at OReilly's for like 40 bucks. I can help you out with parts when you come up to Grand Rapids if you like. We can run o Oreilly's and I'll tell you the parts you need to buy to make it work.

same reason a gen 2 costs more to buy than a gen 1

Not true. you also get the intake tube with the gen 2 kit. The gen 1 kit is only the filter and MAF adapter plate.

I bought the KKm and its a billet housing then went to home depot bought a 6 dollar plumbers hose and made my own cold air... I would have to say this has given me the most gain for the buck... I felt more of a power gain then froma custom tune on the SCT3

no tube comes with it... just the MAF housing!

I stand corrected. You're right about only the MAF housing.

The TB inlet is 3" OD and the maf thing is 3" ID. Meaning you need 3" piping hombre! I'll get pics of mine and post em tomorrow or something
