is there a way that you can change the factory keyless entry code or disable it without disarming the alarm? i gave the code to someone awhile back and they havent forgotten it! recently ive put in a indash dvdplayer and some subs in the trunk .. i was also thinking of just changing the box in the trunk but i dont even know if thats what needs to be done? oyeah i own a 95mark viii if thats any help.

you'd have to replace the factory keyless entry module, i believe it's in the trunk, next to the air ride shut off switch, has the factory code right on it. You would probably have to find one off a 93-95, but a 96 might work, don't know if the ODBII was in anyway incorporated into the keyless entry system, that would be the only hang up. Either find someone parting one out, or find one at a salvage yard. If there's no luck there, I might be persuaded to trade you the one from my 96 if it's compatible.

No you don't you can just reprogram from the key to what ever 5 digit code you wan't.

Programming your own entry code.

You can program a personal code to unlock your vehicle. The code does NOT replace the code that is burned into the module under the package tray. To program your own code: 1. Enter your factory code. 2. Within five seconds, press 1|2. 3. Within five seconds, enter your new five digit personal code. 4. Wait six seconds. Your keyless entry system can be operated with your original code AND your personal code.

but beware, should you have a power interruption, the module will only accept the original code.you will have to reprogram your module again

From my understanding the orginal factory code always works, so if you gave him the factory code then you may have to change boxes. If it was a custom code then you can just change it.

above was not totally correct, if you program your own 5 digit code and unhook the battery, the code you put in will not be erased. i have done this and tried it myself to prove it, on top of the factory code, you can store up to 3 more of your own personal codes, losing power will not erase them, they will remain no matter how many times you unhook the battery, until you personally change them again. but if you want to change the factory code, you must change the module in the trunk. any keyless entry module from 93-95 will work, 96 i think will not work because of the obd II. i have tons of keyless entry modules from 93-95.

yea they have the factory code, how much would you want to sell the box for?is that all i will need?ive never bought anything from the internet so i dont know how it works...also, what would make the check engine light come on but no codes are being stored? it doesnt happen til i drive it for a few hours straight. once it came on for awhile then went off but i had to unhook the battery to install some fog lights. you think it would still be on the computer?my linc has an OBD1 thingamijiggy! im tired of givin up 40 bucks for nothin!

Well if he has your factory one then yha you would have to replace the code box, just get the number off the trunk. Check www.car-part.com to if there is a mark in your area. It's located in the trunk next to the air ride switch. After you remove it, scratch out the sticker on the trunk and write it down somewhere. For a little extra insurance.

As far as the CEL posb o2? has it come on again?

You can pull the factory box out of the car & change the code to ANY code that you want to. I had a "how to" of it somewhere but can't find it right now. You have to change the postioning of the (5) restistors to change the code. you will need to un soilder them, replace with new ones in different positions & soilder em back on.
