I got around to putting in my new Kenwood DNX9960 double din this weekend. This thing brings the center console on my LS into the modern era and is so much nicer then my stock unit. Big thanks to PinkNuts for selling it here to a fellow LVC member first!

I'd also like to thank some of the people who helped me out along the way. 1LoudLS, PinkNuts, Alax7 and 2000sport were all involved in the process. I know nothing about car stereo equipment, so I really appreciate everyone being receptive to my needs. Especially to 2000sport who loaned out his garage and 10 hours of his day on Saturday to help with the install. It was fairly complicated and in depth.

Here are some pictures:

Looks very nice. Looks like it came from factory. Have you used the Nav yet? Want to know if its as great as they say Kenwood nav are.

Nice. Did you have the stock NAV/THX?

The before picture shows that it was not THX nav. The last picture showing the console speakers is also a give-a-away that it wasn't stock nav before.

It's easier to upgrade from non-nav to aftermarket nav, then from stock nav to aftermarket nav.

Without all the BS'ing, my soldering iron not wanting to work, the spousal interruptions, and the beer...

It could've been done a lot faster.

But well worth it...

Looks fantastic.

looks real nice! I do wish that I had the money for a nav unit. That will most likely be my next head unit when I get sick of mine.

Very nice job! I'll bet the screen is easier to see with that slight upward tilt!

I hate you. :p

Looks excellent. I almost bought that one. I still need to get a new one.

How are the NC RyJ's? I've only tried the CC's, and they don't really do it for me.

Wow all this time you had the stock cd changer?? I thought you at least had the nab. Big upgrade indeed.

Looks great Bull. I might get around to buying a fancy stereo like that one day.

looks perfect nice work... I couldn't decide between the kenwood or pioneer avic...went with the avic120bt only because some people complained about the kenwood being a little laggy.... hope thats not the case for u !!!!..... let me know how it works for you (pros / Cons). looks fantastic

Nice clean install. Hope it outperforms your expectations. A little victory cigar in the cup holder, nice!

Looks good! Didn't know you didn't have the thx.

Good call. I'm browsing via phone and photos were not all loaded.

And yea tell me about it, i think i may be the only one who did that conversion.

Wow, your one of the vets around here and you've been sporting the factory head unit for this long?

It looks sexy, and should push the back factory 6x9's to good lengths.

It had been long enough with my stock SoundMark 6 disk. A change was necessary so I could take advantage of basic features of today like Blutooth, USB input and Nav. I'm glad I traded up!

So far the nav is awesome. Everything I expected from a Garmin. Text to speech and 3D maps. It's very good. AVIC's do not have Garmin as a partner, so this is one of the upsides of the Kenwood.

It's a RyJ Bully. I'm new to the whole Cigar scene and haven't had a RyJ Churchill yet. So far I have enjoyed the Bully's but there is a very good chance I don't know what's any good or bad yet lol

My exact thoughts when i saw the first pic! lol

Looks awesome Bull, def let us know pros and cons as you continue to play with it.

Huge upgrade, and I'm sure it has kicked your sound quality up a few levels - I know mine did. I love my Avic's control of the iPod from the head unit, but I'd really like to have Kenwood's NAV features and accuracy. If there would be a way to combine the two, that would be the ultimate NAV unit for me.

IIRC... Avics use a form of Tom Tom for its navigation.. My maps and directions have been perfect so far... Its entering a location that sucks... much rather have the garmin for that.
