Last week I was going through craigslist just thinking about the idea of buying another M8 when the front air bags on my '93 made up my mind for me on Friday night. I was looking at two, one being a black '98 locally that I had missed out on and the other being this black on black '96 LSC with 129,9xx miles on it. The paint is fair with some clear coat peel spots but nothing even close to what my '93 looks like. The interior is in basically perfect condition (there again complete opposite my '93 looks like).

The owner had converted it to Strut Masters so no more air ride problems for me now. But he also left the pump on so if I get the idea of going back to the air ride I can. I may do that in the later future I don't know.

I can't drive the car myself yet because I still have to take the hand controls out of my '93. Looking to have that done in the next couple of days.

Here is my old '93. :(

Very nice. The gut looks super clean. Is it a requirement that all bought mk8's have to have the wheels on wrong. That's just to funny. You are making a nice step up. Not have to worry about car dropping on you either. Good luck with her!!!

Thanks. Yeah I always find it funny when I see the wheels on reversed and almost very one I see with these wheels around here are on backwards. Must be in style. LOL!

One problem that did show up was for some reason yesterday the antenna doesn't want to go down now. I called the previous owner and asked if that was a problem before and he said no. Only one day with it and already a problem with the antenna. LOL!

Any fix that someone knows of?

Can't do that either because that antenna also has problems. It keeps going up and down even when the radio is off. But it shouldn't be an issue. The previous owner had an extra antenna that he gave me. Hopefully that one is better. I asked because maybe I could avoid swapping it.

And I asked him why he had the extra antenna and he just said that he was just getting extra parts from before.

Edit: Sorry dumb question when I already had my answer.

Thanks

Really nice car! When my antenna died on my 93, I took one from a 94 town car. It worked fine up to the day myvson burnt it to the ground. Best of luck with your new ride!

welcome to the club
Thanks. I can not wait to drive her.

Yeah thanks. I couldn't believe how nice it was when I saw it. Especially the interior. Gonna be fun pulling my chair in and not tearing it up.

The antenna problem is solved. Facepalm moment. LOL!

I think despite all the one year parts that the '96 was the best Gen 1 and the LSC package makes it even better.

i used to think otherwise, but having owned one for a few months now, OBD 2 is a fantastic tool and the LSC is a much better looking car.

I didn't know you bought a gen2, way to go!

;)

I have been enjoying driving my new black beauty that I haven't taken much time to come back and post the pictures of the flaws and other things.

So I got the hand controls swapped over from my 93 M8 two weeks ago. :D It was such a easy swap that it only took 30 to 45 minutes to swap over. No I didn't do the swap myself even though I probably could have except since I could not see the air duct for the lower air vent I didn't want to take a chance of just ripping it out. The guy who did the swap did a clean job.

After the install I took the car to get a oil change and flip the two wheels around. The check engine light was also on so had that looked into and it turned out to be a O2 censor. No big deal. Got that done and after a quick wash and after doing some joyful driving for a week took her to get smogged.

And now for the minor flaws. There is some clear coat rub off which is of course common and two small dents (which I forgot to ask where they came from) on the driver side rear fender and the bumper.

The top of the driver side inner door panel is lifted.

The 10 disk changer doesn't work either. But I have a radio that does work so I am not complaining. :D

Almost forgot. The driver side window motor went out so I had used the track and motor from the 93. It may have caused my cousin to get some stitches but at least the window works now. :D Kidding, his finger is good. :D

THe flaws are all minor. Nothing mechanical. When you are good n' ready, you get her painted & you will feel great about it. The interior door trim can get re-glued. I've done 3 of them. I recently did it for a client of my dad's on his Mark VIII. Make sure you open a progress thread. We'd love to see everything you end up doing to her. ;)

Thanks SVT. I definitely plan on taking care of these minor flaws but not for a while. Plan is for next year. I would also like to lower her and get some new shoes. Not sure what I will do first. I will take things slow.

Here is the pic of the dents on the fender and bumper.
