IMRC installation...

I'm doing the IMRC box install next week. Any tips to install it? I figured rather than make the valve cover mistake all over again it would be in my best interest to get all advice BEFORE I tear into the project. Therefore I hopefully won't make any dumb mistakes this time.

Marked8 I tried a few times to download that cd but it kept coming up as a zip program. I don't have a program to unzip it. Any other way to get it open?

HAHAHAHA :p

For whatever reason I think they would do worse damage since the local dealership told this guy I fixed the headlight for on his mark that his "modulator was broken" HAHAHA! I'm like....ummmmm he must be referring to the ballast. I check and his light was burned out. I put a working one in for him...problem solved.

And they were going to charge him a good amount of money to fix it too. F'n dealerships...

So yeah my car is scarily safer with me :D :eek:

Yes and no. Marked8 got me the link to get a free repair manual, but it was a zip file and I couldn't figure out how to open it. Brentalan just fixed that problem for me a few posts above you.

Regardless even with the manual I was curious if anyone had any tips above and beyond the manual. Sometimes you figure out a quicker or easier way after the first time you do something.

Like how working on the headlights took me a decent amount of time...now I can do it in less than 10 minutes practically blindfolded.

1. He flat out does not ever want to work on my car...I don't blame him.

2. I think I can tackle this myself. But a few tips from people that have done it before would be nice.

Jamie gave me two good tips which was to remove the hood and wiper cowl assembly. Any other tips would be great.
 
ripped, if the file/zip your getting doesn't work, let me know (Edit: pm me.) It's the least I can do to help a guy that's had so much troubles with his car... ;)
I actually don't find the '96+ manuals as helpful or easy to use as the older ones, but it will still give you wiring diagrams and procedures (though Ford takes the long way with some repairs!), etc...
 
Remove the hood
remove windshield wipers
Remove plastic cowl

Trust me. That is the only way you will get to the bolts to unhook it.
 
Are you going to remove the IMRC?

If so, the only advice I can really give you is BE PATIENT.
These are old cars and that means you're going to be removing a lot of really old, brittle, dried out, plastic clips and retainer pieces associated with the fuel injection. Take your time. Don't start the job on a Sunday night when you're going to need the car Monday morning.
It's a time consuming job, especially since you might as well clean the IMRCs while they are out. And that gasket is stuck on, so it'll take a while to remove.

If it's just the control module, then all that plastic has to come off...
the more "prep" work, the less you'll hate life.

Might also consider doing the IACV.
 
the imrc's are already clean i just recently put this motor in his car, every square inch of the motor and front end was cleaned, the imrc servo is bad thats what he wants to replace. i would do it, but its derek, and i dont like him or his car lol










i'm kidding derek, i will only do it for $100 bucks, with your help, otherwise have fun! i wouldnt back out either, i'd just rather not take your $100 cuz i know how tight :q:q:q:q is right now.

When would you propose to do it with me if I accepted your offer? I was hoping to tackle it this weekend as I only have 3 more weeks till my 3000 mile round trip to NY and back. I'm hoping to get everything squared away soon.
 
i'd do it friday night after work, but i'm not coming to you, you come to my shop, we'll have to let it cool down first, but i can just put big orange betsy in front of the car she'll cool it off. i am only free this weekend, next weekend my best friend from mass is coming to stay with us for the weekend, havent seen him since 2006.

Oh :q:q:q:q I may have to pass then. I'll know tomorrow but I think the doctor is enducing my wife to go into labor on Friday. I'll post up tomorrow what he says.

The Mark is a great car to travel in, it's just such a painfully boring drive until you get to Northern Virginia.

Yeah the trip is boring on 95...Northern Virginia past Quantico is usually traffic from hell.
 
be there around 5 unless i call you otherwise, i try not to get stuck at a job late on fridays but sometimes i do, and thats when i want to kill someone in the office, everyone else is out the door at 4:20 on fridays so why should i stay late!
