So, I have a 97 Mark VIII LSC... Great Car. But I'm having problems with the ignition. Mechanic tried ordering a new ignition for it, only to find that it's no longer available. The part was removed, inspected, & cleaned... After which it worked fine for a day. The next day I go downtown, park, come back and the key will not turn. Any tricks anyone knows of to help me? That, or does anyone have a spare ignition (in working order, with keys) that they may be willing to part with? Or even a way known of to find a new ignition? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

The SCIL only reads the key, and compares the code in the key to the codes in it's memory, if any match, it sends a data signal to the PCM to allow the car to start. Just replacing the ignition, and the car will not start without being reprogrammed by the dealer. You also run into the chance that Ford dealer might not be able to reprogram it.
