okay so i got my 93 mark viii checked out the other day and apparently... -front axles are leaking,
-my oil is leaking from 3 different places
-one of my motor mounts is broken
-my driver side half shaft seal is blown,(tiny metal flakes in the fluid on the diff)
-abs light wont go off and the brakes slip sometimes
-traction control wont turn off:mad:
-check engine light pops on and off sometimes

however the car rides smooth without the thud of my engine slamming down whenever i go over a bump

what do i do from here??!?!?

well a couple of those things i knew was wrong with the car.. i got my oil changed the other day and they guys working on my car said they noticed some other things wrong with the car..they didnt go through a whole test and check the codes so id still have to do that nd ill probably find more things wrong

Hint: Mechanics make money convincing poor saps that their cars are death traps and that small problems really are big ones. I would take the car to someone who knows Mark VIII's and have it looked over.

The front axles CAN'T be leaking because there is no front axle. Only hub/bearing units that are secured to the spindle with a 36MM nut.

The ABS light is going to be related to the problem your having with the halfshaft. Check to see if the sensor on the diff is covered in grease/dirt. I had this same issue with my 94.

Get a new oil-pan, oil filter adapter, and a tube of RTV, and replace those at the same time as the motor mount. (You have to drop the K-member anyway), and that solves that problem.

You can pick up a used good condition rear section for ~100 bucks and a new half shaft from Advance Auto for 60 ish.

These are LITTLE problems, that any GOOD shop could fix EASILY.

You are in Jersey... go see Geno at LMS... he will shoot you striaght on whats going on with your Mark.

the guy at the shop sprayed off the sensor on the diff and after that the traction control wouldnt turn off..also he said theres a oil leak in the main seal..idk too much about cars i dont work on them as much as you guys do

thanks guys..all i gotta do is get some money together now and ill be straight..its gonna be a while though with school going on but hopefully ill get these little problems fixed and start working on some bigger things come spring

you believe what an oil change business facility says about the condition of our car? Take it to a pro who knows something about your Mark, these guys (front axle leak?) sound like they are trying to blow smoke up your ass.

The guy confused a steering rack for an axle?

:slam

Please don't go back to that place ever again for anything!

I second that!! Check the nut behind the steering wheel!;) Then let Gino check it out for you. He's a member and a sponsor, He'll do you right.

Run... run fast.... Better taking each problem one by one with the help of us here. You will save a fortune and be better able to do you own work in the future.

Not ALL mechanics are theives. You do need to take your vehicle to someone that you can trust though. Whoever you took it to does sound like they may just be fishing for work. I am a Ford Diesel mechanic and I have a clear conscience, I can sleep very well at night, because I never rip off customers.

Dammit it's the Flux Compositor again ... you should get that thing changed

Or you should talk to msm8tress (Debi) she's been screwed many times by guys who knew that they had a sucker.

Your first right move was posting here ... you have a few members from the forum in your area. Geno, Brentalan, Marked8, and more ... send a pm to them and see what they can do to help you out.
