Well tonight, my parents were driving the 96 black on black lsc and hit a patch of black ice. Dad lost the car and nailed a telephone pole head on... broke the pole off and it fell across the road and hit a van.

Everyone is ok, but the mark is pretty messed up. Really do not know how bad, but I will get pictures tomorrow and post tomorrow night or on Wed. I am just thankful everyone is ok.

Wishing you all a blessed and SAFE Christmas

Wow That sucks!!
Not a good way to start the holiday season. Lucky no one is hurt!!

Glad they are okay. Marks are safe cars. You parents were in a good car if it had to happen. I know a guy who was t-boned in the drivers door by an Intrepid and the damage was a joke compared to the Intrepid. The door panel was in one piece only partially detached and the outer door was pushed in evenly. He was un hurt and the Intrepid was a right off and was bent nose down from the fire wall. Totally trashed. The Mark only needed a used door and a rocker not even a pull!!! The doors have a good sized side impact beam in the form of a round pipe. I saw mine when pulling off my door panels, I was impressed

Glad to hear everyone is okay. I wish i could say the same for the mark. And the telephone pole.....

that's the thing, it was a good Christmas since they are all right-it sucks about the car, but I know alll to well that you stand a better chance of surviving a crash in a Mark-a driver turned in front of my 93 at an intersection with no warning, I was doing about 35 when it happened-raining, I slid into the side of a newer Jeep Cherokee, Mark was history but I was alright. I did not have on my seatbelt, and the airbags went off and kept me from getting hurt. They were cited for failing to yield and I got enough to get my 96, but none of that would have mattered if I had gotten seriously hurt or worse. It can be replaced.

Okay... If you have a weak stomach, look away. What you are about to see are the pictures of the car. It actually is not as bad as it looks. as long as the frame is not tweaked, we may be okay. Pushed the front main bumper support all the way back to the radiator and I really have not had a good chance to check it out yet. Will see what they say. Low miles... 40 miles.

Oh yea, I posted a before picture as well.

I ripped a guys T-Bird in half with my 96 and did not do that much damage. Stationary objects like that are a bitch to hit.

Hey, at least your head lights seem to be ok.

Wow. I'm sorry to say , but I think it's toast. Looks like the lower fram rails are bent, the tires are crooked.
Your lucky no one got hurt !!
My 94 had front end damage (if you look at my photo gallery) It wasn't that bad and I fixed it myself...

Yep, she looks done. That much movement in the front bumber will have pulled things around. The tire alignment looks out of whack.

Sorry to hear this news, especially at the Holidays and all. Glad everyone was ok, sorry for the Mark, one more down. Want to sell the headlights?

Heres a shot of a wicked hit that a Guy and his Wife survived in a Mark.

ok...I am guessing the car is going to be totalled. When you look at the year, the fact that both airbags went off (and expensive fix in itself) and the over all structural damage to the front end, I would say it is gone.

This is my question. I have a 97, this 96 and I am looking at a real nice 94. I would like to buy the car back from the insurance company, but I have never done this. How does it work and what should I expect to give them? Like I said, I know nothing about this, but would like to have the car for parts and to part out. The car has under 40k on it.

You should pay 10% of the total awarded. I paid 440.00 on my 94 when the Kia decided to try and fight me. She had 270ks at the time, I have also had friends buy various cars back, they also paid ten points. This was up in Canada, not sure if same applies for US market.

Usually all you have to say is you wish to buy the car back as salvage. The insurance company will then give you a value for the salvage. The amount once agreed upon will then be deducted from the cheque.

In my first and only time doing this, I told them I wanted to buy the car back as salvage. The adjuster gave me a number right there and it was done.

The ten point thing does not usually apply to fairly current late models however. The parts are more valuable and in demand.

Thank god no one was hurt. That looks pretty bad. If its totaled, how much would you like for the headlights? PM me as i am VERY interested.

You dont have to by it back as salvage I bought a 98 that was hit at 60mph
no salvage title

Very glad that no one was hurt. You lost a car but your family is still coming home.

What a shame though, I would have cried.

hmm wow..it shows if most are saying not injured or many injuries..that shows that mark is a good car-if it savable dont take the cash get the car back in ur yard.thats the way to do it.. and yes of course hittin a stationary object is bad like a pole or'a tree. .lucky no one was hurt in ur accident.once i was a pass of a pole comin at me..no fun being in that seat no air..$#*!
..oh and that white mark showing- they cut the car.
scary stuff..you have to be carful driving..especally a car like ours. treat the car as if it was urself.;D

common sense i think what most are lacking. just thnk some marks could been saved!
