Well the adjuster looked at the car and would like to total it.... HOWEVER, he only wants to give 4K for the car. I understand the car is a 96, but it does have under 40,000 miles on it and is in excellent condition (just look at the headlights). I understand them totalling the car, but I think 4K is on the low end. They claim the damage is over $7000. and they are probably correct.
They are letting us get a second opinion from a body man that is a friend of the family. If nothing else, maybe we can get a little more than the 4K.
By the way, the adjuster claimed that one headlight is trashed. I have not looked at the car in the daylight as it is not at my home (near my parents home 2 hours away). So for all the PMs and request on the headlights, I really can not make any promises yet. They will let me buy the car back for 10%. I am keeping the motor and tranny to build. If we buy the car back, we will part the rest out. The rest of the car is in near perfect condition.
Today, I was at a company pheasant hunt and the guide had a 94 sitting in his driveway. The car looked pretty good, but the grill was busted out and the hood looked a little tweaked. He hit a deer and they totalled his. He bought it back for $75.00... yep.... $75.00. Before anyone ask, the headlights looked like a cloudy urine specimin.
