I need help 97 double din install

Here's a silly question on the topic of sound systems and amps; where is the factory amp?
 
all this talk of replacing and rewiring is good and the best, BUT were the speakers working before you changed the stereo? you may have some wiring off, or you could have blown it, but if it was working before it should be fine.. i put 2 12" kickers with 2000 watts in the trunk and the stock system for everything else and it was perfect.
 
Yes everything was working before which is why I'm unsure wut to do the only reason I'm considering doing everything is cause I'm about replace the carpet and mount the battery in the truck so I figure now would be the time to do it while everything's taken apart

If the carpets coming out, now would be 1 of the times to do it, this time would be sooner than next time, and only removing the carpet and trim once

you might as well just bypass all the stock amps . you still could use the stock speakers but there are so many good replacements out there,you just have to ask yourself what areyour goals with the system. if you really want loud clarity, replace. for me all i needed was bass the stock system was loud and clear enough to vibrate the door knocker on my house from the driveway.
 
I know I want a sub I just don't know how big I should go I'm just looking for something a little better than stock I'm not tryin to impress anyone
 
And I wut size amp with like like a 10" sub and if a 4 channel amp how do the tweeters get wired in to that
 
I haven't relocated the battery yet but I think I'm gonna route it from the trunk and come from the pass side up through the firewall and bring it around up at the radiator not sure if this is the best way though I'll see wut happens when I finally do it
 
Rear are the same as the front.

You should just get a 5ch if you want a little more simplicity. Most decent 5ch's have atleast 350-500rms on the sub channel on top of the 50x4rms+ for the interiors.

Through the steering boot in the firewall. Not the easiest task in the world, especially if you go with a big wire but it's about the best place to go through with it.

6X8 is the size and I went with 2-way Kicker DS68 and they really do sound off clear and loud with no distortion. They aren't high dollar either.

This is what I have in the back and for their size, they have good bass and impressive clarity for the price. Or, you could go with the component set, like these and remove the factory tweeter and install the one provided. These speakers can really handle some power, if you throw it at them.

I'm trying to work within your budget of $500 or less. The old tweeter you have now is stock and will never stand up to very much power. It's dry rotted and just old. Moving the battery to the trunk is something I just wouldn't do, unless you have a good reason to do so. I'd leave it where it is. That's just me though. Get some good terminals for your battery that have multiple outputs. I have these and have never had any type of corrosion. I had them in the 94 too for 5 years and never had one spot of corrosion. Price has came down since I bought mine but this is for the pair and a good deal. They are all brass with a nickel plating.

Something like this would be ideal for you, if it fits right. Even though it says it's for a truck, it might fit right in the space where your air ride switch door is located and you'll know you have a sub back there.It's not going to beat down the block but should sound pretty good. It might just fit right in that spot perfectly. Just need to measure back there and it would be out of the way and comes with the grille already on it to protect it.

Or go with two 10's and push them all the way back and mount the amp down beside it to the left and it will be out of the way too. Maybe you can get it up into the amp rack but I would be afraid of it getting hot up there. If it gets too hot, it will protect itself and shut off.

Someone else on here is about to install this same box in their trunk but the output power of the MB Quart should be sufficient for both. Two would have a better kick to it anyway, comparing it to the single above 10" for the truck. Cheaper too. $180 to the door and new.

There's my little 10" Boston G5, good luck finding another one :( such a great little sub, everyone thinks there's 12s from the bass in the cab. I pop the trunk and they're all shocked its just 1 sub and its a 10" lol

My reason for putting the battery in the trunk has nothing to do with the sound system I'm changing my intake setup around for my s/c
 
I've also been thinking of relocating mine, and the fuse block, but that's sooooo much wiring to mess with
 
It is which is why I've been putting it off for so long I have a big pole of parts sitting in my garage it's horrible but I think I want to go with one sub I don't want to add too much weight to the car

Head unit and 6 x 8 s are already installed. Now for the fun stuff! Good luck with yours. The JL box only weighs 35 lbs and I chose light weight amps about 6 lbs each.
 
On all of my Marks, I've run new wires.Take all of the seats out and it is quite easy to figure out where you want to run them. If you want to a nice system, go with a 5 channel amp. One amp will handle all of the highs and lows of the speakers and one channel will be for the amp. That is the setup in my last Mark, and the current setup now.
 
So I should use wut ever speakers I get for the front in the rear slso. Wut do u mean one channel is for the amp

If you look up a couple of posts to Hot*Mk8, you will see his diagram. His system has two amps. a four channel amp for the doors and back seat area, and a one channel for the amp. Hence five channels. I opted for an amp that was five channels by itself, and this saved me space, and I didn't have to splice two remote turn on wires, two grounds, and two powers. As speakers, go with a component style speaker that has a seperate woofer and a tweeter, and you can utilize the existing areas where the factory speakers were housed. There are 5X7 component speakers for sale. Like THESE.

Hers Greg lol. I think you also meant "SUB" and yes, I too have been thinking of getting a JL Audio or Kicker 5 channel amp myself. I'd also have those speakers you listed. I hear my JL's fine in the door now but I'm sure the extra tweeter added up higher wouldn't hurt anything.
