?#1,
I have seen a couple videos of people watching the tach and it goes up to around 3 k or so before shifting, mine never even hits 2k when Im taking it easy (normal driving). It will hit 7K when Im really gettin on it(I usually let off at about 6 or 6.5 cause I dont wanna chance it.
What is the norm for these cars? I ride around at about 1K to 1300. Isnt that bad for the motor to lugg like that and is the oil pump pumping enough at the RPM?

Q@2,
Is it normal to catch some scratch in second gear when its not even floored? I can manually shift from first to second at around 5.5 to 6K and I get a really good chirp. The first time this happend I was like " OH Sh!t" in a good way. I am absolutly amazed at the power this thing has at about 4-5K in first gear. WOW

Q#3,
My temp gauge never gets above the L or A in normal, and the heater does blow very hot. Do these motors run ridiculously cool on average?

Q#4,
Is anyone else near the Chico, Sacramento, Redding area?

Im sure Ill have more dumb newbie questions but this should be enough to get ya started.
Thanks

1. Depends on how you're driving from take off when the car will shift into 2nd. Yes, your engine is getting oil like it should provided you're using 5W-30 fully synthetic but some use 10W-30 and still get the oil pressure they need.

2. Yes, it's common for the car to snag some good 2nd gears, especially at that rpm. Mine does it really good with the OD off and manually shifting, which is something you don't wanna keep on doing. The transmission you have doesn't really like to be manually shifted. Continue that and you'll find yourself looking for another tranny. Ask me how I know.

3. Temp usually hangs dead center unless the system has air and then it is known to rise above but if no air, it will usually remain in the middle or a little below.

4. No.

An overly aggressive 1-2 shift might indicate a bad accumulator piston / spring. Mine used to SLAM 2nd until I did the needed accumulator upgrade. (along with J mod)

+1 but I did change the springs & piston with no J-Mod and still get a good chirp but now it has to be manually shifted with OD off to get it. J-Modded 98 tranny + removing my newer springs and piston and putting in the 98 coming soon when I get done painting.

KK, will you come down to Alabama and swap them out for me if I fly you here? I have a heated garage and all the tools you need. :D

Thanks, It only spins em' if i manually shift it other wisw 2nd to 3rd feels normal.
I have only dont it twice and dont plan on doing it again anytime soon. Unless I really need to.:burnout:
