Let me start this off with .......I live in a town of 800.........I don't have to lock anything, and can leave the keys in the ignition......as stated in previous post, my DS door handle broke.........last night I was worried about it raining, so I went out and rolled up windows and closed sunroof........see where this is going!

Keys in ignition.....extra set in console......auto lock turned on.......went out this morning to go to dirt stock car race (275 miles)......no way to get in car....I feel like the biggest f---ing idiot........I could cut my own wrists over this....LOL

Friend is driving out here.....(25 miles) with another buddies 3 piece kit......has instructions and 3 different tools.....hope this works.

If it doesn't.......can I use my vin and go to ford and get a key cut? 25 miles each way for a locksmith, plus cost of service doesn't sound cheap.

Check with your insurance company and if you have cell phone provider. Alot of times you may have a road side asssistance policy, and may not even know. Worth checking out. Just call up and ask. Worked for me last month when my blazer suddenly wouldn't start....fuel pump. Saved me a $75 tow.

After the code pressing "3" unlocks the passenger door. "5" does the trunk. There are other little shortcuts.

Ha ha, i didnt know that one either. i love learning new tricks...:)

I posted the second one once I realized I was going to get hit with run code twice or hit 3 or 5 posts......tried to save some face!

I tried the door code....didn't know it would do the passenger door....till I read my owners manual......I can count on 1 hand the number of times I have locked the doors.....let alone use the code.

LOL, I can't tell you how many times I have locked keys in my vehicles. I now keep all keyless entry codes on my BlackBerry. ;)

Now, I'm waiting for the day I lock both the keys and the Blackberry in the car!

I have the code in my phone and wallet......and they both got locked in my 94......I had just gotten home from CA, was in shorts and a t-shirt.....it was Christmas morning.......I stopped at a stop sign and jumped out and grabbed something out of the trunk......the door locked when I jumped out......had to walk to a nearby house, call my brother-in-law and have him bring my spare key.....never did figure out why the door locked.....it only did it once more while I owned it.

i had a similar thing happen last week

I took my girlfriend to the airport in the morning, threw my keys under my seat, and locked the doors... I came back to a dead battery, so dead that the trunk wouldnt even pop. I had to have a friend drive the spare key 30 miles to my location :(

I usually throw my keys in my center counsel during the day. I use the key pad every time I get in the car. My remote broke and haven't bought a new one.

Try owning a Mark VIII without any door handles or keypad. I keep forgetting every time I move the car to leave the window down so I can open the door with the car running.

Currently the only way to pop the door is with a remote which is always attached to the key that's in the ignition. I need to wire up a backup button somewhere but I just don't like the idea of that. Too easy for someone to steal.

i will tell you what i did when i was patring out a car and locked they keys in it because the battery was dead.Just pry back the passenger or drivers door handle near the lock cyclinder. Then take a long screwdriver and pop up the long rod attached to it.

That works well until the darn door sensor fails! You will not get a "Door ajar" message. Basically the car thinks something, the dome lights, are still on and activates the energy sentry. There goes the keypad! Sux.

I feel your pain bud. I've opened my trunk before with my only set up keys, set the keys in the trunk to grab my groceries, shut the trunk, then have a serious moment of awakening when I realize I just locked the damn keys in the trunk.

I bet you won't make the same mistake twice! ;)

I thought about putting an extra key pad from one of my parts doors, under the rear bumper. Then it still stays hiden and you still have option B to get in you car.

Insted of putting it in you blackbeary or wallet, has anyone ever tried to memorize it. Works great for me. Just change it to your birthday or something yoou can remember if you can't remember things.
