I can't believe I am actually torn between a 98 Mark VIII and a 98 Taurus SHO.

The V8 SHO wasn't any faster than the V6 SHO-
plus they didn't sell it with the 5speed.
But they both have Yamaha engines that aren't supported by Ford anymore.

That is where NESho comes in because they can install an MTX transmission for me out of a manual older sho.

I have driven in both and driven a mark. The mark is definitely the way to go as far as power and fun as in burning tires go. The GenIII show actually handles awesome despite the fact that it is a Taurus and it will out handle the Mark VIII stock for stock.

I dunno.. the SHO is in a totally different realm (FWD)...

Why not a Marauder vs. Mark VIII?

I know it sounds crazy, but I sold my 2003 Marauder for my 1998 Mark VIII with 40K miles :D ... and I do not regret it one bit!

hell the v8 SHO seems to be around the same speed as the 3.0 dohc taurus of similar year. i changed a alt on a gen 3 sho we had on the lot and had to ummm test the belt afterwards.........um ok yeah i jumped on it, and was very disappointed i wondered where the rest of it was. the gen1 or 2 v6 sho was a different story

SHO's are great cars, i have owned a 90 and 93 5speed. actually sold the 90 to buy my mark. i would personally go with the mark. and unless the SHO has had the cams welded and they have very detailed maintenance records, i would steer clear. the gen 3 cars are VERY picky about how they have been taken care of.

the SHO will handle better and you won't find many others around, but that really isn't a good thing when you need to get parts for them. the mark should be cheaper to maintain and slightly less likely to have problems.

This is the SHO to get. Powered by a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine coupled with a six-speed 6F55 SelectShift transmission and an All-Wheel Drive System, 2010 Ford Taurus SHO may outputs 365 hp at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,500 rpm. Man just wait until we start chipping this baby!

I do like those.

Want a straight up answer? on LVC you are going to get "MARK VIII's are better because SHO's are horrible" while if you post the same thread in an SHO thread you will get "SHO is better because Mark VIII's are horrible". In the end you are going to buy what you feel you want & what you feel you are going to have more fun in. Look, NONE of my friends can stand my Lincoln. WHY? Because it's powered by FORD & ALL my friends HATE Ford. To make maters worst since my transmission is fried & my suspension is always giving me issues, they give me the "I told you to get anything else but FORD bulls**t" or they give me the "Fixed On Routine Daily" I still have Ford cars because I love them so regardless of what any of us tell you, get whatever you want. You know you will have consequences with BOTH cars that you will have to deal with. Good luck on your decision.

I owned my 95 SHO that I just sold Saturday as a matter of fact for 5 years. I have been an active forum member of both markviii.org(ick), lincolnvscadillac.com and SHOforum.com. I will tell you first off, you are not going to find the community for your v8 as you will with a v6 SHO or the Mark. Ford burned A LOT of v8 sho owners over the cam failure issue and there is almost NO aftermarket because of it. The v8 SHO can be a really great car, but imo, I would get the mark. I made the same decision a month ago when I decided to put my SHO up for sale and keep the mark. Both cars are in fantastic shape, but the Mark won in the long run with me.

Well I have decided on getting either a White or Black Gen 1 OR Gen 2 Mark and throw some black chrome FR500's on it like another user has on here, sorry but that just looks awesome I hate to steal your idea but I love it!!!!!!

When winter comes I will buy my V8 SHO and then I will have both cars!!! :D

No :q:q:q:q sherlock lol ;) When it comes around next year. I am not buying another Mark VIII till good weather comes about. I just didn't know whether or not I wanted to start doing more research on the Mark ontop of the research I was doing when I owned my 94 over the summer or start looking into the SHO.

BTW :q:q:q:q THE SNOW GO THE :q:q:q:q AWAY!!!

Ill say it once, ill say it again. In about 10 years when the prices come down, I WILL own an SHO with a bigger turbo kit.

i know this thread is old, but you traded a marauder for markviii? man i want a maurader so bad! and technically i could afford one, but now i need a SUV, so i might grab a 1997/98 expedition for around 2-3k so i can grab a camaro, but damn i love the maurader.
