Today I came home and found a big ass beat up box sitting in my garage. I knew right away what it was. I have been trying to get my hands on a set with out spending close to a grand to get em It has been my main excuse for not doing the exhaust on my 96 since day one. That excuse has expired. Over the next couple months I will be picking up some stuff to go with them. The only hurdle i will really have is getting them install i believe this to be beyond my abilities. unlike buying them from super coup i did not get the directions for easy install. I have no clue what ill be up against. Hopefully I can find someone local that knows what they are doing and can do the install and run the exhaust all at once.

A big thank you to the1andonlygr81 for these.

I might be wrong but I'm thinking that the Flaming River Steering Joint Kit that DLF was making, made it easier. Maybe his wife might be able to get her hands on a set if any were left.

Just an extra link to maybe learn a little bit but it concerns Cobra headers.

It is my understanding that these are direct bolt on and no river steering joint is warranted. of course i am ignorant of this subject so a researching we will go.

I could possibly install the headers for you... Let me know if you are interested, I am in Davenport. I could do the headers, but I can't fab exhaust pipes.

Call around to some shops and see what they want for install first.

You don't need to modify the steering shaft. They are a direct bolt on. I did it while the motor was out of the car but if you drop the k member you should be able to do it.

really Ill keep that in mind. its will be a few months out as i collect the rest of the parts for the exhaust. when im ready ill message you and we can work out the details then.

you have to drop k member. everyone ive seen do it the engine was out or was pulled out.nothing needs to be changed or modified unless you delete the egr but i didnt.get the good copper form gaskets i had them and the bolts but they vanished. still have the complete 04 mach 1/ cobra intake with rails and injectors at LOW discount price and a strutmaster set.

I am super jelly. I know you got a good deal on those because I was talking numbers with him too and was thinking about nabbing them up but funds did not allow and I just got back to work from being unemployed. Money was the only thing stopping me (and mostly always is) when it comes to car parts. I don't have a wife that I need to report to so I can do pretty much whatever I want. LOL

I hope you don't mind drone. (looking at your sig) It's going to be loud as chit with x-pipe and LMS mufflers. Haha, I'm not saying that's a bad thing personally myself because I love the obnoxiousness of it all but I am just warning you. LOL

I plan to sound deaden the entire cab like i did my trunk. I doubt I will get drone. Not only that but i have enough wattage in my car to drown out a screaming baby in the back seat if i needed too. I personally dont mind the sound of a good exhaust. On my 90 bronco i had full length flowtec headers that went about 3 feet back into some flow master super 40s that dumped straight down.. not only was it loud it sounded beautiful too. sometimes id just turn the radio off and listen to it as i drove.

I have the same setup and I have drone. I'm strongly considering replacing the x-pipe with a muffler with the x-pipe built in. It's a bit to loud at cruising speeds for me and I like them loud.

'loud' is an understatement! especially in the car. but i love it too.my neighbors used to tell me they could hear me as i got on 95, and with the cams, good God man it was sweet.its easily 1.5-2 miles from condo.
plus i had 2 kicker 12" subs with 1600rms 2000 peak and just those 500rpm's where the drone is you could still feel it and hear. i drove in a rpm range above the drone which helps a littlei it always is aound the low end of shift points which usually is at the speed limit fvor some reason it seems.

DRONE IS CREATED, depending on the motor, due to several factors... compression, cam profile, motor size, exhaust flow, etc can never really get rid of it which is why there are so many different systems, converters, muffler placement the adding of an x pipe,2,3,4, h pipes is to equalize the flow between sides and, depending on where placement occurs change the sound.i had my h on my mustangs in different places once right after headers once before yhe mufflers, in the middle, then had a MAC system with a 'pro chamber' which was a box dual in dual out about 1ft square by 3" thick with actually had 'x' shape baffle inside. EVERYONE had flowmasters even me until i changed. the tailpipes on my notchback and 85 ragtop were chromed all the way from the muffler.it was such a radical new sound like a ferrari or formula 1 car when you got on it, its just physics cant get rid of it without smothering it

So other then some header bolts and gaskets and the mufflers and middle piece (either pipe or muffle) and the mandrel bent pipe and tips and cat convert. what else is going to be needed for this install. that way i can be 100 percent prepared when it comes time ?

and i guess the really important one would be stick with 2.25 or go 2.5

if you cut out the Y- resonator, 3rd cat, hold on to it. I may have a mech friend that wants to use it on a project
