I have now idea how this happened. I definitely need to fix it.

I'd be curious how that happened too unless someone did that while working with some sort of a tool under the hood.

I would see if maybe you could get a small piece of screen or tape to wrap around the tube and apply some JB weld to that. The tape or screen would be just to keep the JB weld from getting inside the tube and causing a blockage and overlap it enough so it bonds to the surrounding metal.

I used JB weld to seal a cap on my EGR tube when I deleted mine for the intake swap. Obviously your case is a little different since you still have your EGR valve which means there is still some hot exhaust gases recirculating, but I would imagine JB weld is up to the task. That stuff turns hard like ceramic.

Hmm, not sure, but maybe it got clogged really bad, and it finally just busted because of pressure? Just a shot in the dark. Hmm, if you didn't have an egr, this wouldn't have happened! :D

Nah, there is not THAT much pressure. Looks like welding damage to me. Very odd!

I think the screen, JB weld idea is great and worth a shot. Or get another tube. Jamie probably has one.

I thought I remembered you posting about using a sawzall to cut the tubes off of the heater core a while ago when you replaced it....

Collateral damage?

My guess is it was rusty and the heat from the exhaust gasses finally ate through the tube. It definatly looks like it burned through...

Right diesel dan - looks like to me rust got it then he drove it and the exhaust gasses escaping from a little hole cut her out

I took a saws all to the heater core hoses in the 93 I sold. What happened here was my amp wire was in the EGR tube. Once the insulation melted, the hot wires arc'd, acting like a welder, this burning a whole in the EGR tube. Go figure.
