How bad would a G35 Walk a Mark??

once they G35 coupes come down in price I will definantly pick one up especially the 06s they are sweet cars one of my friends has one 6 speed heates seats, bose, he did catback, gears, intake and some other small stuff and it moves out nice, and it handles great even stock....

japanese Mark VIII

Where are all the people who said a stock Mark VIII can keep up or even win now lol...

Keep in mind that $2,000 in the Mark will make it a 12 second car, the G would take ALOT more to make fast.

That's whats good about American cars.

Imagine a jmod, 4.56 gears, solid shaft, fatter tires and 100 shot of Nitrous would make a Mark capable of?????

Ok, I'll bite... Lol.

What do you mean? What mods totaling 2g's will make a Mark VIII a 12 sec car and not a G? (nitrous not included, as you can just as easily do that to the G and make it stay ahead)

The Mark will be faster given the same budget of $2,000.

Period....

In a straight line that is, if we're talking about curves, the Mark would need ALOT OF F'IN WORK!!!!

The last time i checked, modding an older american car is MUCH cheaper then modding a new jap car.

Do some research.

So, in a straight line, what mods for 2g's will make the Mark VIII faster than the already quicker G with 2g's in mods to spend?

Do some research? Lol.

You made the claim, I just asked you to back it up.

I already posted above what it would take....4.56 gears, lock, 100 shot Nitrous, some minor weight reduction, JMOD, wider rear tires, 1 piece shaft etc... Of coarse a higher stall tc would be great, but i don't think you would even need that.

Hell you can even find a chip on top of that for added fun.

Done..

You could do weight reduction and add nitrous to the G... Still doesn't prove that a Mark VIII with 2g's in mods will be faster than a G with 2g's in mods.

BTW, you probably think I was being an ass... Wasn't trying to call you out - was just curious. To clarify: I'm not a Japanese car fan, but I do believe that it's better to never underestimate the enemy, or what they can do. (Japanese cars in this case) Sure, we have extra displacement and two extra cylinders to use... But, our cars are bigger, older and flexier with a 4 speed wide ratio trans.

Blue, are you saying I should think about Pearl Harbor when a Japanese car roll up next to me???:p

Let me correct that for you:

Sure, we have extra displacement and two extra cylinders to use... But, our cars are bigger, older, flexier with a 4 speed wide ratio trans, and a fraction of the price.

I wouldn't be embarassed if my $2000 Mark VIII lost to a $30,000 G.

Now let's make it interesting, and a truer comparison if we're talking about mods versus dollar value: Twenty grand total to purchase and mod the car. Who comes out on top? Or how about ten grand?

A toyota? no
A Honda? no

but a mitsubishi? ABSOLUTELY!

Mitsubishi, IS brought to you by the same folks that brought you PEARL HARBOR!

(lol)

Let me correct that for you:

You could spend 10% of 30K on a mark 8 and it'd not even be in the same league as a G-35.

Neither would I.

In fact, I really couldn't care less if a car that is several years newer beat me in an illegal street race. (or on the track)

BTW, luxuryrules. I wasn't even making a dollar vs dollar comparison. Obviously the money you save buying an old (low value) car can be used for more mods. I was simply asking what mods for 2'g will make a Mark VIII faster than a G with 2g's to spend in mods. (bearing in mind the Mark is the underdog due to reasons already stated)

An unrestricted Mark on open road from 55mph can dog the :q:q:q:q out of 6 cylinder imports, i know i do it all day long on GA400. For those of you unfamiliar with GA400, its 90% straight as an arrow and people average 85mph daily. As for a dead stop race, well no we won't be on the winning side of that, we got a fat ass to drag up to speed.....come on man, its a luxury sport coupe!

I haven't ran my 97', but I was happy with my 94's performance. It had 164K miles(service history unknown). I raced at Firebird 4 times and only won once. The first loss was to a SRT-4, he ran a 14.7. Then a GTO, he ran 13.7. Finally, a WRX, he ran a 14.2. The best my 94' ran was 15.4(yikes), but I believe it was slowly developing a overheat issue. When I sold it, the temp gauge was at 3/4, still got 1700.00 for it though. The only victory was a Mazda CX7....LOL.

I still had fun in that car, and I'm interested in what the 97' will do.

my younger bro's buddy's dad has a g35....he's a pediatric heart surgeon......next time they go away the kids gonna take it out...he wants to run......its an 06 or 07....we g teched it and it went 15.1....i had my trans am then and spanked him...now i have the mark and he's talking sh*t....so even if he does inch me out....big deal he's a heart surgeon....he makes WAAY more $$ than me...his car should be ALOT faster!!!

Try racing an 07-08 G35 or 09 G37, Lexus IS350, Bmw 335i and you will be buslengths behind. You would be surprised which cars pull hard on the top end...

LoL, no not really. I drive my moms SL55 quite frequently, so I know german engineering as well as anyone. Yea, it kicks ass, but its not dependable, expensive to maintain, and its got a :q:q:q:qing blower. The 335 is turbo i believe if i recall correctly, thats a whole nother class as well. And a single buslength behind a car 10 years more advanced, well, wouldn't even be that bad but i'll bet your ass an IS won't leave me that far behind above 60 straight up

I bought my mark from a guy who bought an 08 G35, and not a day goes by that he doesn't tell me how much better the mark was with highway power, stereo, etc. He said the Mark in 98 was light years beyond the infiniti in 08. Thats straight from the horses mouth;)

The IS350 is crazy fast... saw one at the track with only a cold air intake and catback running 13.5 at 100mph on stock tires.
