Hot dza1???

All I know is that it is smooth and if I am at a red light, in drive with the AC on, I can set a 12 oz Mountain Dew bottle with very little in it on my shifter and it sits there with hardly any vibration at all. That was just something I done the other day and was kinda Impressive to me.

I noticed this too in my VERY limited experience with my W3Z2 ECU I've put aside for my next Mark. I swapped it in one of my parts cars in place of the W3Z3 in it and the engine seemed to idle a bit smoother. Seemed to rev up just a hair quicker too, or maybe that was just my imagination.

The W3Z2 has traction control if that makes a difference. And the build date was in '92

Does your car have TC as well? This may be a dumb question, but I've heard there are issues with putting a TC ECU on a car without it and vice versa, and could it be possible this is the issue here? I could especially understand it with the differences in the feel of the brake pedal, since TC operates off the cars ABS system, correct? Just trying to throw something out there.

I swapped out my 1993 X3L2 ecu for the original DZA1 on my 95 LSC and the same thing has happened with the car ..more pull, firmer shifts and a harder brake pedal, both cars had TC, so I know its not that..I think its something to do with how the ECU controls fueling on deceleration, altering the vacuum from the engine .

Both ECU's have TC, as well as my car. But now with 3.73's I may have to stick with the W3Z2 one until I can afford a tune to remove the governor... :)

My car has traction assist and came with the DZA1, when swapped with a non traction assist W3Z2 it worked fine, never noticed any brake pedal changes or differences, only thing is my traction assist does not work..which I could care less about..

even when 1st gen trac control works, it isn't useful. not a very smart system.

Indeed. One of the things I mean to get to soon is wiring that stupid switch backwards so I push it to turn "on" TC rather than the other way around. I'm not sure if I can just do this physically or will have to wait until I get my Quarterhorse installed.

should be possible to install a small relay or circuit that just closes that circuit momentarily every time you you start the car. would have the same effect as pushing the button every time.

That would be a neat trick. I'd be interested in doing something similar if the next Mark I get has TC. Luckily, the 93 I had didn't have TC so I never had to fool with turning it off all the time. Then, I was out one night in my parents' stock 96 LSC with TC and raced a guy with a modded GTP. I left the TC on, foolishly thinking it would work similarly to "launch control" like on some newer cars, and I got burned. At the time, I knew nothing about the TC or how it worked, but I learned fast after that.

up here in Fairfax county they have a Lamborghini and a dodge viper. both of them are black with fully tinted windows. saw them sitting at the county vehicle service place i was working at last summer. and i didn't believe they where police vehicles till the officers got in them and left. they also have a grey mini van and a 2006 ford mustang.

dont ask me how i know about the mini van. D@mn undercover cops

They also have a black 5.0 GT with tinted windows that likes to cruise on 28, especially as you come up to Centreville.

A stock 96 would get burned by a modded gtp. Tc or not.

It wasn't seriously modded, but it did have pulleys and a chip, maybe a couple other small mods too, I don't remember. This was a '99 model GTP if I remember correctly. He got me by about 5 carlenths from a dig to around 100 MPH. It was embarrassing lol.

i got rid of my top speed lmtr and never had a vibration from the d/s.even after the new tranny, cammed motor and two seperate shift point programs from teeth gringing to just popping my d/s never gave me a prob. but heres a question for other trannies; staying in drive i was able to pass the limiter at WOT, with o/d on i forget 120 or 128 and the limiter would cut on, but the vibration comes with the rpm's sustained for longer periods of time. if you drive in o/d until you get the vibration, look at rpm then drive with o/d off and you'll have the same shake at the same rpm .

that should be enough to put it very close to the 13s.

Im not saying I could've beat him, even with the TC off, but it could've only helped me to have it turned off. Might have made the race a little closer.

So what ecu has better performance wz32 or daz1 ?

IMO, W3Z2 has better performance but not the best gas mileage. I'm seriously thinking about putting my DZA1 back in because I'm not out here racing my car or dogging it out but I would still keep the Z2, just in case the DZA1 ever went bad. I want better gas mileage and when I say better, I'm talking about 1-2 mpg better.
