Honeycomb big? Yeah yeah yeah! Ins not small? No no no!


So as some of you know I was having a nasty bee problem in my outside work area. Bee guy came out today to spray. I think all them bastages are dead now. Notice the many small white bodies. :D

WOW Bill, is that under the house? ANd what is the girth of that hive? Truely amazing, surprised you never had problems in the house. And are they going to take that down and dispose of it?
 
Im gonna have to bribe Sapper to crawl in there. :lol:
 
you can eat that hive if you like honey! its suprisingly good tasting! or get yourself some screen door material and put a bowl under it and mash the hive against the screen and get yourself some fresh honey.

Its covered in pesticide.
 
With the rest of the country having the opposite bee problem (colony collapse disorder,) it's a shame they decided to make your house into their home...
 
we just had the same problem at work, they built a massive nest inside the wall of our front porch, they were very aggresive though, a 30 year bee relocator came in to remove the bees and move them but once he opened the wall and realized these bees were pissed off he had to kill them. he said in 30 years he could count on one hand how many times he had to kill them all, he was the kind of guy who got emotional if thats what had to be done, but he said the ones at my work were no joke, one of the welders got stung 22 times when the guy opened the wall, and she was on the other side of the building and inside, they came in after all of us. i wanted to get pics but they removed the nest on a sunday so i wasnt around. he estimated 10,000 bees, the nest was 32 inches wide, in between two 2x4 studs and it was 7 feet tall when i got there monday for work we looked at the mountain of dead bees it was unreal.

understood, but the world seriously does need bees.

When they infest like they did at Laser's house and Jaime's work there isnt much choice but to kill them,but we should leave other bees alone when possible.
 
I don't mind bees. It's wasps I hate with a passion. More than one sting and will be driving the big Mark VIII in the sky.

true, I have heard and read about how they make the world go 'round, and I saw 'Bee Movie', lol. But I can't stand when they decide to take up residence in the house when they have so much wooded area to thrive in. I guess if they were smarter they wouldn't be declining in numbers.
 
So today it was warm enough and I was able to see that the hive is dead. Unfortunatly when I told the guy there were two hives he said "There wouldnt be two that close together." He was wrong. The new one that moved in a couple weeks ago has a HUGE hive under the house and 1' from my carport door. So he came out and powdered that one today a little and is coming back at 5am to get under the house and powder the hell out of them.
 
Hey Honey, oops I mean Bill, you are just now witessing this. Those hives must of been there for a long while. Kinda odd that you are just now witnessing it.

I remember reading somewhere that you were unable to turn a wrench because you were swollen from stings. How did that come about that happened? I could not find that thread since I read this.
 
That hive moved in this winter. Didnt think much of it. The new hive is two-three weeks in there now. I am not seeing any dead bodies though.

Yes, was swollen from stings. The first 9 didnt bother me but the last three really screwed me up for several days. My right hand, right arm pit and my left knee on the backside where it bends were all swolen to the point the skin split.
All the rest of the stinks got nickle size and itched some but thats it.
 
glad it was not me. I am allergic to wasp stings. I remember once at Ft Benning, Ga, I came home from work and I noticed the raccoons had gotten into the trash behind the carport in front of our duplex on base that we lived in. So I went in between the carport and house and bent over to pick the trash up, as I did this, 3-4 angry wasps flew down in an instant stung me in the back of the head. I felt it instantly and went out in the yard seeing all these wasps coming out and humming. As I took a few steps, I fell the f*ck out in the front yard. My wife called 911 and they came out and took me to Martin Army Hospital and that is when I found out I was allergic to wasps. They had to pump me full of Benedryl thru a IV. I was floating on cloud nine after that for like 2 hrs.
