Thanks to Markviiiedrea I was finally able to acquire a set of the gen1 LSC crystalline lens headlamp housings to replace my divided lens halogen headlamps.

I first had to split them apart to clean inside, polish the lenses out, etc. which took a lot more time than I had planned. The lenses are nice and crystal clear now, but unfortunately there was little I could do for the dulling chrome reflector coating.
They are far from perfect, but they still look considerably nicer than the standard lamps. I'm hoping to find another set in better condition.
I got them installed a few days ago, and was able to give the car a quick detail today.

There is naturally a significant improvement in lighting output, but I did it mainly for cosmetics (Clear lens and the complex reflectors are much more attractive, and give the front end a more modern appearance - the car isn't driven at night much)

I'm using an aftermarket HID kit with an adapter plate to fit the stock housing for now. I went with 4300k so it's just furiously bright white lol. The beam pattern isn't perfect as the housings were designed for the 9500 based HID bulbs, but it's alright (most important the cutoff point is not too high so it won't be blinding oncoming drivers)
I attempted to get a few pictures of the lights / color temperature but my camera refused to cooperate, so when I get a chance I'll try the other one to snap a few shots.

GenII ('97-'98) Mark VIIIs are prettier, but Gen1s ('93-'96) are definitely more aggressive looking IMO

Thanks for looking :)

The car definitely looks way better with the HID housings... but you can tell that they aren't perfect.....

Your car is still insanely bad ass though....

Your car makes me sick! It is so nice man! Awesome ride ya got there! Good job with those lights :)

it has that mafia look to it, if the windows were tinted dark, i'd have to say in my opinion it would be the baddest looking first gen mark hands down, it needs tint. but it is a sick looking car. body kits make me puke but yours is so perfect, looks like it came out of the ford plant wearing it already.

looks awesome man! I have a nice set for mine still but the car certanly dosnt look like that. have any close up? I wonder what the black out would look like photoshoped. what did you do with your old one's?

I also have to agree that you have the best looking Gen I mark VIII. It looks so clean. BTW love the LSC housing

drock i like dark tint all the way around but your state may not allow it, what i did for my wife on her old car so she wouldnt complain is i did the front two doors 30% and did the rears all 15% limo black. my current 93 has %5 all the way around but i wont lie, driving at night sucks lol.
this was my 30%/15% combo

and this is my 93 with the 5% its very dark, almost too dark, but i love it!

if your interior is black, you can do a lighter tint, the interior will help make the tint appear darker, like 30 or 35 % would look perfect yet you will still be able to see fine at night.

The interior of that car is tan...

I wish tint was legal up here... 50% is the darkest you can go, and that look lame.

bastard !!!..

i see i have competition for the best gen1 !!! haha

j/k.. your car is bad a$$ !!.. only a black mark could pull off that body kit

as for tint.. i have 5% all around.. cant see in unless its super bright out

check out my gallery and you can decide whether you like the dark stuff

Thanks for the compliments :)

I do like (the look of) dark tint, but unfortunately the darkest I can go here in MD is 35% (total, so the factory solar tinting in glass needs to be factored in the tint film selection to stay legal) all around
...which is why I was leaning towards 50% as I did with my other car.

This car seems to attract enough attention as it is, I'd rather not give them something to hassle me over if you know what I mean lol

Clean... lol... Drocks Mark isn't even clean compared to the Merc...
Very true (Unfortunately, lol)

But if it was as clean as the Merc it would end up sitting parked under a cover hardly ever driven, like the Merc. :p

devilchild: I took a look at your gallery. Gorgeous car  I thought those wheels were larger than 18" until I read the mod list.

thanx.. i have to try to keep up with you now..haha .. those 5 stars are soo wide open they do appear larger.. everyone thinks they are 19 or 20's

but unfortunately the darkest I can go here in MD is 35%

here in jersey you cant have ANY tint on your front side glass.. only the rear doors and rear glass..

i dont drive the car too often so they really dont f*ck with me..

i was pulled over once for the tint .. told the cop i rarely drive it.. and i was just taking it for a spin so it could breathe.. trying to make it a show car.. blah blah blah.. and he let me go after complimenting me on it
