i love my 97 lsc have done a few mods and then the passanger lowbeam goes out. the one thing i cant seem to fix because ther seems to be no replacement kits out there. i am told there is a conversion kit on ebay but everyone i have looked at or emailed says that they dont have what im looking for, can someone please tell me what kit will work. i know theres something out there that can be wired in.
i cant afford a $400 kit
thanks
jt

fro what I remember the kit is for $400 but it comes with both new bulbs.

ford has a whole new set of housings for 97-98 but they are equipped with 9006 halogen bulbs for around $600 bucks, not hid's there is no direct hid kit specifically made for 97-98 hid housings. some people have made special rings that bolt to the opening in your hid housings and accept an after market hid bulb. but your stock hid low beam bulb was discontinued a few years ago, if you want to replace it with another stock hid bulb go on ebay and be prepared to spend 100 bucks or better for a used one!

If it were my car id convert them to an aftermarket setup. Just make sure whoever you buy the kit from will still be in business a coupe years does the road and also sells replacement bulbs.

Call Max @ 5 Star Ford. If you still want HIDs he can put you in touch with a (I think he's a member here) who makes adapters for them to use commonly available HID Bulbs.

I know the guy's name, but not his user name, (if he's a member here), and I'd rather not post it for I don't know how he'd feel about that.

i want to convert to an aftermarket but i dont know what kit is useable, is a 9007 useable i need the name of the aftermarket kit geno said that there was a kit on ebay for around $50 he thought but each one i emailed all said they didnt have what i needed

His username is 02hssd or something similar. I believe he's the one with the kits.

five star ford is our connection to oem ford parts. Max Zuckerberg (sp?) is the parts sales manager down there and passes great discounts on to LvC. By doing so everyone plugs him in for OEM parts. I've bought a few things from him and have been very satisfied. His username is mrzeee

there is a low priced kit out there somewhere, i just need to know what bulb size will fit and then i can make my own adapter .

the only kit i have been told about is the one from os4hssd and 300 is the last price i seen for that. im told theres a cheaper kit then that but noone can tell me what kit it is what other kits are there i dont want to reinvent the wheel i just want a kit that is useable

If making a $2 adapter is called reinventing a wheel, then so be it.
Why pay $250 extra for something that is too simple to make, really.

Buy the cheapest 9006 or 9005 kit you can get (not car specific), and make that adapter yourself. All it is is a piece of flat plastic, with a hole in the center and three screw holes. It only keeps the bulb from falling out. Of course that and any other solution won't give you a perfect focal point, but I guess if you are on the budget, then it's good enough ;)

thank you that is what i have been looking for i didnt think that it would take this long to get that answer.

SHAME on M Maker for not getting up at 2:30AM to spoonfeed you the information that 2 screwdrivers and 20 minutes of your own time would have provided.

LMAO

If I had Factory HID's, this would be my solution as well! You can get the HID kit on ebay for $85 bucks or less.

so you can buy any 9005 or 9006 kit and make a thing that would hold the bulb in its place?

If you can't figure that out from this thread and tons of pics of such setups all over the net,
then you should buy a so called "mark viii" kit.

you can only stress saying " use the search function " so many times, but i'll say it again anyway, use the search function, the mark VIII is 15 years old now, the headlights have been a problem on both generation mark VIII's for years now, there are thousands of posts about remedies and solutions and fixes for both styles, all you have to do is type and hit enter, you'll need a pot of coffee and some crack to stay awake to read everything on the web about this dinosaur aged problem!!

I do sell a retrofit for the mark VIII's its a machine billet ring to use aftermarket HID conversions.

PM me if you are interested.

sorry to m maker i wasnt meaning you in particular i just thought someone in the dozen or so responses before that would have told me that instead of all the other things that were said. and as for searches and threads i looked through dozens of them and did archive searches but i never found this answer i knew there was something out there i just didnt know what size i was looking for.
thanks again this will hopefully save me some money right now and eventually i will be able to do some more mods!
