I replace my VC covers yesterday and car is dumping a bunch (A LOT) of oil. I'm assuming I didn't get the dipstick tube back in there correctly. Is there some sort of secret to getting it back in right? Can't get my hands in there....
Your case just reaffirms my position that some things should just be left to the dealerships. I applaud and respect the DIY, but its not like trying to fix your VCR or something. One small "whoops" can end up costing alot of $$. I have a great Ford dealer by me to do any work i need, which from what i have read is rare. Good luck.beaups said:I replace my VC covers yesterday and car is dumping a bunch (A LOT) of oil. I'm assuming I didn't get the dipstick tube back in there correctly. If all we ever says is "don't do that - it'll void your warranty" and "take it to the dealer" - would seem we would have nothing to talk about other than how exactly the same our cars are and how much the dealer charges.....
True - the internet can make things seem simpler than they are - but most car guys like working on their cars and learning a little bit more every time.
beaups - it should just push in with a firm wiggle.

Changed it again...all better. Believe I did the drivers side VC gasket in 90 minutes?? Practice makes perfect![]()
