I am thinking about picking up a lowered coil conversion for the Mark, Could somebody tell me how to tell the difference between the lowered coils & struts vs. the standard hieght ones? Can they be measured? what are the lowered kit measurements? etc.

The guy selling them was told that they were a lowered kit but is not sure since he picked them up used.

Thanks, Rich.

email eddie at american air and ask him for the measurements, thats the easiest way to tell the lowered strut should be roughly 1 inch shorter with no weight on it. or count the amount of coils.

yeah but i think the point is here, the conversion he is looking at is not on the car, so there is no real way to know if its a lowered kit or standard by just looking at the parts laying on the floor!!

Rich, can you post the answer when you find out?

Thanks,
Jay

If and when I find out for sure, I will post it. I just spoke with the seller & he says that strut masters told him there is no visible difference as the coils & struts are the same height but the spring rate if different. I'm not sure though.

Oh well, I wanted the used lowered coil conversion but he sold it. After contacting arnott, strutmasters & eddie, I decided just to buy a new lowered coil kit from Eddie. It's the strutmasters kit but he sells it for less. He also doesn't mind talking to you on the phone.

I really wanted to keep the air but didn't want to deal with having to buy new rears next, or a compressor in the future. I should have the kit by next friday or so. I will post a pic once I get it installed.

That's what I am thinking at this point, No worries. If money wasn't an issue then i would have kept the air ride stuff.

If money wasn't an issue my car would be getting a full custom air ride set up.... but money is always the issue.

I talked to edie and he said his lowered kit is just the normal kit with 1 full coil removed. I asked because my project came with coils and there to tall for me, so I asked him how much lowered one's where and he told me too just cut one coil off. I cant remember if he said from the top or bottom though. I believe its the non flat side, I think. Any one know for sure?

Yes, Eddie told me that the lowered kit had 1 coil removed, However strutmasters said otherwise. I think I believe Eddie.

I agree call Eddie and he'll let you know.

I have both sets and let me tell you the lower is more than 1.5"s when it settles..

I had to change my 245 45 16s to 235 60 16's to just keep it from bottoming out.

Pics of my car are in my garage... I wanted to post a pic of all my cars to show the diff side by side but I haven't taken that pic yet. Maybe after my street is finished...
