OK, so I had a brain fart! I locked my keys in the truck of my 2000 LS. I managed to use a hanger and get inside the car, but I'll be if the alarm system didn't disable the the locks, windows and worst of all the truck release. I know someone here has to know how to how to bybass this without paying for a locksmith. Any ideas? I really appreciate it!

I think it will only stop you from starting the engine But I don't have an LS, It might be different. Good luck

Thanks, I am hoping someone will know if the system will reset after a while or something. I have been able to get into the car and manually unlock all the doors. But the main problem is that the keys are in the trunk and the trunk release button will not work and the release to lay the rear seats down is the trunk too.

don't you have an extra set of keys?

QUOTE=shltn]Nope. Bought it used with 1 set. Plus we are on vacation.[/QUOTE]

Ok, this is a real long-shot but...

I know on the 2k LS sometimes the folding back seat wont latch proplerly. If it wasn't latched you could fold them down from the inside of the car and crawl back into the trunk maybe.

Other than that, given the situation, I cant really figure out a way to get in there.

Good Luck

CRAP! I am assuming a locksmith could get it open correct? Or a dealer?

Pop the hood disconnect the battery, wait 5 mins reconnect and see if it resets the alarm. Maybe it will allow you to pop the trunk from release on interior.

Just an idea Hottie - good luck!

Battery is in the trunk. I can't think of any other way to get in the trunk. Sorry.

I'd start pulling some fuses and replacing in the car and under the hood to see if you can't reset the pcm/fem

Can't open the hood from outside the car. The release is lower left of the dash.

Either, but you would probably need to show proof of ownership. There was a scam a while ago where someone would show up with the vin and want a new key made. They would then proceed to steal the car.

If you pull the passanger kick panel off there is a fuse box there. There is also a junction you can pop open and access power the vehicle. Maybe you can disconnect the battery from in there, wait a while and then try it. You can also pull fuses from down there too.

he's in the car just can't get into the trunk where the keys are if i am reading correctly. the ls is smart in that all the releases and whatnot get disabled if the car isn't properly disarmed. my ls disables the power doorlocks altogether when the system is armed.

Ahhhhh, I sit corrected. I read it wrong. One reason I keep my remote and key separately. I've never not been able to use the trunk release, car locked or not. In fact, one of my peeves with the LS is you can't disable the inside trunk release.

Now if the battery is dead, the doors nor trunk would work.

They fixed this in '03; stick your key in the trunk release button and turn, and you'll lock it. IIRC, the valet key won't unlock it.

Too bad this won't help here. It looks like a locksmith is required in this situation, unless the rear seat backs aren't properly/fully latched.

dont you guys have the key pad on the driver door like the conti?

I Know that in my other conti it had a plastic key in the owners manual book so that you could pop the key out and use it incase of emergencies maybe you have one? check :)

I know my 02 seats dont lock all the time......I cant believe that shT I have always though about what would happen if I locked them in the trunk.....also IIRC the only fuses that will disconnect the alarm are also in the trunk.....

No...not available on the LS. I actually bought one of the Ford pads that works like a remote and installed it under the lip above the rear license plate. You can't see it. Had to take it to a dealer to be programmed (2001) but it would have saved a big headache here.

One other suggestion. If you're inside the car and the trunk button won't work, try finding another 12v source and "hotwire" the release. Remove the button, unplug it, and apply 12v to the side going to the trunk. That should pop it. <<<DISCLAIMER>>> I am not positive how this system works on this particular car. It could use a ground side switch through a relay or module instead of 12v...but that would be the first time I've seen that.
